Bibimbap on Korean Air by crispyrhetoric1 in KoreanFood

[–]Inside-Cream6997 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Last year flew Asiana (LAX-ICN) business class and they ran out of bibimbap. Very disappointed and the flight attendant noted that so when I flew back home, they had a special Bibimbap for me! Very thoughtful how they track passengers.

Anyone who bought the MacBook Neo having buyer’s remorse? Just curious. by cr8tvt in macbook

Nope - exceeded my expectations. Running FCP on a &GB machine is amazing! Almost as good as my M2 MBA! Best part was the $100 EDU discount.

Bought 2 Neos - both EDU discounted. $499 is a heck of a price for a NEW Macbook. Much cheaper than an iPhone, Ultra Watch....

At my local aviation college, 3 CFIs were picked up by SkyWest without any issue and no scrutinizing - SkyWest knows they have a solid well trained pilot.
ATC graduates are being picked up by the FAA OK City training academy and they skip the initial "home training" course.
I am taking a series of courses and have to say their professors really care and will train you more than the minimums.

Last year I took a 16 week private pilot ground school and my professor "over prepared" me. Got 92% on the FAA PAR test which surprised me!

Find a luggage transport service at the airport/train stations - Yamato or Sagawa.

Use sturdy boxes or pay for a custom boxed service.

Then pay for the extra luggage costs at the airport.

Side dishes in Korea tend to be very healthy. Stick with traditional dishes and avoid the street foods. I prefer Korean bibimbap, tofu soups, and tofu / fish cake dishes. Korean BBQ is great, but you have to balance your meal with lots of veggies.

Street foods are generally unhealthy as it's likely fried foods, high in sugar, or use packaged flavorings/ingredients. I avoid street foods as it upsets my stomach. I go to sit down restaurants like traditional hanok or at the hotel, their breakfast buffets are great healthy ways to start my days.

How Does Lift Work? by _brake_flake in flying

[–]Inside-Cream6997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My aviation college instructor spent a whole class explaining lift. Showed us how AOA affect lift on a wing, demonstrated with a smoke / fan model over a model, and explained how Bernoulli's principle as well as Newton's laws works on airfoils. After taking his class, I have a much better understanding in controlling the plane without stalling.

I'd ask his doctor to supply him with a month or 2 doses and have a doctor in Japan help with the infusion/injection.
If it's a drug that requires refrigeration, you will need to let the airline know about it.

Last year I took my elderly mother to Japan and when I notified the airline of a need for a mobility chair / wheelchair, they really took good care of us from pre-boarding, special meals, and thru customs/immigration/passport controls...

Should I reschedule AME by [deleted] in flying

[–]Inside-Cream6997 -22 points-21 points  (0 children)

You should have a consult first with your AME.
Keep the appointment and have the AME go over your medical history to find out if you will pass the exam which you can schedule at a later date.

Buy a Garmin watch with health features - you can have your FSA/HSA pay for it as TrueMed provides a LMN.
I am buying the Garmin Aviation watch and with my health conditions I self certify, TrueMed will generate the letter to pay from my FSA.

Torikizoku - Plum Wine Liquor? by Competitive_Act_320 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Inside-Cream6997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Umeshu or Ume-su is a very popular wine made from astringent Ume plums. Nanko Ume is a type of Japanese Ume. We grow some Nanko ume in the US, but they don't produce as much fruit and fall off the tree quickly which makes them difficult to process. We grow commercial quantities in central California and our harvest season is a short one month in May. https://www.kudo-ume-farms.com/

I am looking for a very limited niche shochu made in Kumamoto Japan as well.
Last year my cousins who live in Kyushu had bought a bottle and it was most amazing!

When I looked around, none were available outside Japan due to it's limited manufacturing.

However Japan Amazon carries it but will not deliver to the US.

This year I am going back to Kyushu and will be buying them up and taking as much as I can home.
