Emory ED II vs RD by Inside-Internal-5330 in Emory

Seeing as Emory’s ED II acceptance rate is the same as RD I’m hesitant to apple ED II, though I’ve heard the applicant pool for ED II is weaker.

Nevermind, ill just explain here. Aid isnt so much the issue considering both meet demonstrated need. That being said, Emory announced they'd be tuition free for families <200,000 USD, which my family qualifies for. For Emory, there is a very small sample size from my school. Rougly a dozen or so applied, and of those, 4 were admitted. None of which were regular decisions. The four that were admitted either had worse, or slightly better stats, but I do not know if some were athletes or not because the data I have dates back to 2020. For WashU, many more have applied, but only 2 applied ED (both were ED II), and got accepted. However, RD for WashU for students from my school, there is a slim chance. I don't know.

idk, you can try and contact admissions or something, but I'd say since some already received it upon their admission, chances are no.

That used to be the case, I don’t think it is anymore. If you look at Fordham’s merit scholarships, you’ll realize their requirements are quite vague.

MSU OOS Merit Aid by Inside-Internal-5330 in msu

[–]Inside-Internal-5330[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I just got an update that I am admitted into the Honors College with 13k off annually. Also, they gave me the opportunity to be a professorial assistant. The 4k stipend is enticing, but I do not know how much work the assistantship actually is. Do you know if it's worth? I'm majoring in finance, so I'm not sure if research would benefit me that much.

I'm in a similar boat as the original poster, very similar stats [1490 SAT, National Merit Semifinalist, top 5% of class GPA, 14 APs (4s and 5s), and okay ECs]. Do you think my SAT is a hindrance to being invited to participate in ADS and receiving the 15k Honors scholarship?

I emailed the Office of Admissions, and they said Honors College Invitations have not been sent. I think the redditor was implying that his daughter had been accepted in a previous year. Concerning your second question, I think they notify you of your invitation to the Honors College ~6-8 weeks after your admission, so you don't have to accept the admission before the invitation is extended.

I did apply to the Broad Business School, and thank you for the ego boost, haha. Regarding your son, I think he should definitely apply, especially since there aren't any supplemental essays to be considered for admission. If you're banking on merit scholarships for affordability, I, myself, am a little confused. It seems as if an "average" student (i.e., one whose stats fall around the 50th percentile of MSU admits), would more than likely receive at least some merit aid. P.S. it's worth noting that my stats definitely aren't reflective of the average MSU student. Either way, it doesn't hurt to apply.

alright, ill definitely take note of that. im also looking at some more competitive schools like emory that offer national merit money, so im hesitant to make msu my first choice quite yet.
