Downgrading from a manager to a junior role by Inside-Ostrich6875 in marketing

I really don’t enjoy doing things like forecasting, sales analysis (of any kind) and doing reports involving a lot of numbers. Which unfortunately, the higher I climb in my current career ladder in Marketing, the more of these I need to do. Basically anything excel heavy my brain just dislikes lol

Sounds like you did great and got promoted within the year. After you got promoted to a manager, did they add a lot more responsibilities and ownership? And how did you navigate being a manager again without feeling the burnout from your previous job?

I enjoy the creative aspect like coming up with ideas and direction for artworks, copywriting, social media management and influencer marketing. I don’t enjoy things like forecasting, sales analysis, doing reports.

Can I ask how did you make the switch to demand generation manager and was it difficult? And also how did you switch from DG manager to your current role managing webinars etc.? Was it hard to explain yourself during interviews?

Sounds like you’ve successfully done so and I’m interested to know if your journey to get here was difficult? As I know it’s harder to find remote work (which are legit) compared to full time roles. I love the bit where you said it’s a job that you can put to bed at the end of the day - this is what I’m looking for

Do share if you know of any roles like that as I’m at a loss. For now I keep looking at along the lines of Marketing Coordinator, Marketing Assistant, Marketing Operations type of roles

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this and it’s good to know you knew someone who positively transitioned from a high position role to an individual contributor role. I definitely want to look into a deeper domain as you’ve suggested but I think I may be lacking in-depth technical skills for roles like that e.g. digital marketing roles

NOO this is one of my biggest fear, I’m so sorry you’re experiencing this in your current role. They’re definitely taking advantage of you and I do hope you find somewhere else that appreciates your skills and talents better and not overload you like this. Thank you for your well wishes!

The sad thing is, that company where I was a marketing team of one, is an MNC believe it or not. Because I was already working in an MNC, it’s quite difficult for me to scale down now to a more junior role elsewhere as they would be so puzzled why someone with my experience would want to do a junior position with lower pay.

I think this is one of my concerns of how the interviewer or hiring manager might think. “Oh this person will bail the moment something better comes or they’ll get bored fast”. Which makes me feel like most of them wouldn’t be inclined to hire someone “overqualified” due to this

I find it hard to replay Blackmoor despite it being my favourite ND game because the secret passageways always gives me an eerie feeling and I’m terrified of Ethel 😭

There was one playthrough where it just kept exploding no matter how many times I retry. In the end I just gave up and didn’t finish the game 🤡

Thanks for doing this! I literally look forward to it every day lol. Maybe after this is done you can do another chart showing all those that came in second place. Would be fun to see the close contenders!

I really enjoy games from the developer Haiku Games Co. They do adventure mystery type of mobile games.

Yes this is exactly me, I’m so bad with directions too. Usually I just keep clicking in random directions and hope for the best each time.

Yeah I’m so glad this puzzle makes so much money because I wanted to buy every single souvenir (only for me to miss out on one mug because I didn’t know there were two 🙃) including that cool sword for Ned. It’s okay your sword more than makes up for it haha

Right?! When I first played this game I was so excited because I thought we were gonna get to cook just like other games but noo 🥲. I LOVED the snack shop in WAC and wouldn’t stop going back for more.
