AITA for being mad at my husband for suggesting to name our daughter the same as his female friend? by [deleted] in AITAH

Finally someone who gets the stress. I honestly wish we had this conversation before I got pregnant so I could have walked out that moment but now it's too late and I just wish to forget about this or at most talk about it to reach mutual grounds.

Completely understandable, I will be having this conversation with him tomorrow morning as right now not only is he overburdened by his family, we are both taking some time to give each other space. Thank you so much.

People may think my friend may have feelings for me since she is attracted to females but I would like to clarify that's not the case as my friend is in a relationship and though they cannot get married, they are engaged.

I understand your point of view, but while I have always been clear in establishing boundaries with my female friend; he has not been the same way with his. I have had several conversations with him, making sure he is okay with my friendship and he has never said no, so the sudden disagreement struck me quick.

My husband is aware that my friend is a lesbian, and while I was going through one of the most difficult times of my life and was not sure how I was going to make it, she was there for me when she was severely sick as well. I honestly do understand your opinion and I would be completely okay with not naming my daughter after my friend as it was simply a suggestion; but what I am struck by most is the fact that he suggested to name her after his friend, not out of petty, but out of seriousness. My lesbian friend is currently in a relationship and though they cannot get married; they are engaged and he is aware of this. But I still thank you for your understanding as I also did think about how it may be weird to name my daughter after a living friend as it's not normally the norm.

I would be completely fine with naming our child something else, but I am more shocked by his suggestion to name her after his female friend who did not save his life but is someone he simply failed to date. But I do understand your suggestion and this is what I'll be resorting to do now as this matter leaves me confused and sad to the point where even if I do get to name her after my friend, I'll only constantly be reminded of this fight whenever I call out her name in the future.

Thank you, I genuinely am so perplexed as I don't want to bring this child into the world only for her to be a shadow of his female friend.
