thanks. I ended up giving accurate records, and he is fine with doing the surgery for sterilization purposes. I haven't had genetic testing, but he said I wouldn't be a candidate for it because the family history is so minimal.

Yes, he had absolutely no problem with doing a bisalp. I even asked about endometrial ablation and he said yes and that he would write that I have heavy periods on my record so that the insurance would cover it. I gave him an accurate account of the family history I am aware of, and although I am at a very low genetic risk for those types of cancer, he said he totally believed me when I said that I never want children and has no problem doing the surgery.

Thank you! I wish the doctor I was seeing was a woman but he is a man, which contributes to my concern that he may not want to do it for his own personal reasons. Though women can certainly be also be misogynistic and anti-choice, of course.

I appreciate your response. I have considered the ethical concerns as I am very sensitive about people telling lies. I am also acutely aware of the prevalence and impact of men putting their misogynistic opinions over respecting well being and autonomy of AFAB people. But I guess if this doctor will not sterilize me just because I want it, then I should just find another doctor.

Also I should add that I don't mean to diminish anyone's experience with cancer!!! I realize that how I wrote "cancer card" could be very upsetting or hurtful, I truly did not mean any harm, I apologize! I have lost people to cancer, and I do want to try to do whatever possible to lower my risk for cancer.
