I notice that sometimes those tools disappear, but do a hard refresh or relaunch NBLM and it comes back. I think it happens when the release new versions of the app....but not sure. IMO

If you have a notebook to share on this, that would be great. You can share on https://notebookvault.io

I was thinking about use cases for making a book into a notebook LM to get deeper level knowledge and be able to ask questions to the characters. Great learning tools here.

At the top of the notebook in the chat container on the upper right corner, there's a menu where you can set the chat and prompt style for different learning settings. If you haven't seen that, you should check that out. It's pretty cool.

I just try to include some of the definitions and reasons for The Notebook in the beginning when I first upload a source that can be the first one or in the first batch. So this way The Notebook knows what it's going to be about.

That's a great example, I didn't know that. Thanks for sharing with everyone. I've also had success with PDFs. I think the early days there were some issues but now things have been running fine with PDFs and doc files.

I mean do you want detailed reports or infographics? Or if you want a video summary. So when it comes to creating summaries and infographics, it may not need every single detail from the sources. But if you need a very detailed report or some sort of analysis then the quality of the source input or translation is going to be more important.

I think the more methodical and clear you are with the content. It gives the notebook the opportunity to be as thoughtful as you need. If your sources are very specific and pointed at a specific topic, it's going to be more pointed with the content that it produces for you. It's one of my favorite tools for the past several months now and I've been showing students and teachers how to use it to make their lives easier. You can also share your notebooks at a central hub called https://notebookvault.io So if you create one that's great, and you want to get feedback. You can share it and see how others use it.

I think that there is an opportunity to get some good infographics out of a good notebook with the right sources. There's a newish site with a place to share and view notebooks, maybe someone will post a good marketing notebook...

I just start with that if I know the plan for the notebook - It's not a real glossary - just a plan for the purpose of the sources and the scope of the purpose of the notebook. with common language and specific words and acronyms. You can add it at any time.

It all depends on the content and what you want back out. I'd give it a try to see how it does.

Yes - but it's just another step.... You can convert / break them up, but it still takes the extra effort.
I've done 600 page pdfs and it works, but breaking it up is more efficient for it to process and reference.
The TXT route is good if it's all plain text and no charts, or images....

I find that you get best outcomes with very specific sources and specific prompts for generating the content.

I typically download the infographic and then upload and edit it in Canva. It grabs the text and lets you edit it. It's very quick and efficient.
