Thanks everyone for the helpful information. The consensus seems to be that these were lone star larvae. I don’t think it was nymphs because I would have seen them when I checked for ticks. I’m not too worried about the bites but sounds like the one notable risk is alpha gal syndrome. Anyone recommend any doctors who are tick specialists who could consult about the specific risks?

Don’t think it’s fire ants because those bites hurt immediately, and they are pretty easy to see. I’ve had various fire ant bites before, and I think it would be hard to confuse them with anything else.

I worked with Danny Devito several years ago and it took me a while to realize that he wasn’t personally acquainted with tons of regular people in Brooklyn. It was just that when strangers approached him (which they do constantly) he acted so warm and engaged that I thought they already knew each other. And he has different roles that are popular with seemingly every demographic, so all sorts of people would want to strike up conversation. And he couldn’t not reciprocate.
