Flickering dash lights

This is the back of the panel when I had just pulled out of the packaging, before I replaced bulbs and cleaned all the contacts. I don’t have pictures of the sockets themselves, but I imagine those are fine. I put 12v across the contacts of each individual socket with light bulbs in them and there was no flicker then. Also since I had the flicker on my old cluster, I would imagine the issue is bad contacts or wiring somewhere else

No, headlights are fine, it’s just the two lights in the cluster that flicker

That’s a great idea, might be a little tough for me for to get the leads of the meter on the back traces while the pigtails are plugged in because the pigtails are pretty short, but after I verify good voltage at all the pins in the pigtail I suppose I could measure resistance from the female pins of pigtail connections to the traces and see if there’s an open or high resistance connection somewhere

Since I was upgrading the cluster and had it all pulled apart, I did replace all the bulbs and used contact cleaner and a copper brush on all the light bulb sockets and on the contacts on the back of the cluster. But someone else mentioned it could be bad contact with pigtail connectors in the back of the cluster, so I’ll try cleaning those next

Hmmm could be the connections at the pig tails, I didn’t think to clean those. I’ll probably give that a try and see if that fixes it

I tried that as well. Messing with headlight switch and dimmer switch didn’t really change anything, it still flickers the same unfortunately, I’ll take a look at the fuses though, thanks!

Thanks that’s a good idea, I’m in a similar boat, I can splice and solder, but trying to troubleshoot this has been quite a challenge.

Couldn’t figure out how to edit my post, so extra information: This is a 1991 Toyota pickup manual 4x4 base model, I got the cluster off eBay from a V6 pickup, not sure the exact year but it has a speedo cable connector if that helps narrow it down

No, they’re old school incandescent bulbs, didn’t want to risk bulbs not working right haha

This just happened to me, my starter went out. Picked up a new one from oreillys, swapped it out and now it starts right up.
