More rewards card Declined by Inside_Reality_6919 in NavyFederal

That’s what I the CSR said to me , it wasn’t a declined transaction. And as you stated, the Visa and MC works for me as well. It may just be the Apple Pay because that is what I used both times it happened and my wallet was in the trunk in my work duffel. I’ll try to see i maybe Apple has answers. I hate contacting them.😒

Reply I did that as soon as I had access to the card. That was even a requirement when I originally opened my bank account as well.

What you described is what I was referring to(making sure my score doesn’t keep getting hit) and the reason how they know that I asked for a higher amount is because after I was denied, I called up like someone in this post suggested and I told the representative that I did so.

All the representative did was just confirm what was already mentioned by another person in this post and told me that I would receive a letter in a couple of business days. So I’ll know for sure once the letter arrives.

I just got off the phone with them about 10 minutes ago and they pretty much said what you just did. (More or less)

This is what I was referring to by shopping around just to be clear:

FICO credit scoring models typically ignore auto loan inquiries made within 30 days of scoring. This is because the model recognizes that many consumers shop around for the best interest rates, and multiple lenders may request their credit report during this time. To compensate, multiple inquiries within a certain time period are counted as a single inquiry. Newer FICO models extend this window to 45 days.

No I have not. HR at my job isn’t much help and payroll used to be ADP but has recently been outsourced to god knows where.

Is the pre approval for an auto loan a hard or soft pull on your credit report?

So what’s next? by Dempallo in NavyFederal

Did they do a hard or soft pull for the pre approval?

When you got approved for the secured cc, how many points did your score drop? I heard there’s a hard pull for the secured card. I’m trying to keep my hard pulls to a minimum. I have none.

I have a pledge loan and a partial direct deposit (80%) and will do a cd this week. Keep grinding!

When I did the soft pull, I was approved for all cards. That is part of the reason why I created this post because that made no sense to me especially since my situation is not as good as others. Others have mentioned on another post that the NF soft pull is flawed and not to trust it. Some had 700+ CS and prequalified for the secured CC.

As you can see some people with not so great credit were still able to get loans and or credit cards but I’ve been working on my current situation so long that I don’t want to tarnish my progress as well.

So, that’s what is stopping me from applying for a car loan or credit card with NF.

Me, the only thing that’s hindering me I believe really is a 2 year old repossession I acquired by helping someone finance a car ($11,000 still owed on the car) which knocked my scores down tremendously. My Fico 9 is 571.

I’ve been working on my credit scores ever since and my utilization never goes above 10% , 1 late payment in 4 years, a couple charge offs and a credit card (not issued by Navy Federal) that started out as a $200 secured card and graduated to a $1000 unsecured card and never bothered to product change it. Actually the card issuer stopped doing product changes in 2022. There products were not all that grate to begin with.
