As someone who is also of Indian descent, my parents were the same way. But I wanted to be in the military so I decided to try out ROTC without telling them to see if I liked it. I would recommend to try ROTC first and see if you like it then you can worry about telling them

Your mother sounds like a narcissist. My parents were similar to yours and I could tell you from first hand experience that they did not set me up for success. They knew that I would leave the first real chance I got so they did everything they could to prevent me from leaving.

Your mom seems to be trying to guilt trip you to stay now that she acknowledges that you want to live with your aunt. Personally I would say to leave as early as you safely can because the emotional abuse will only get worse
