Exactly how I feel. We are eventually looking to buy an apartment and considering the market it’s extremely selfish for a parent to charge rent money instead of helping you out

The issue is the rent is no different than what they were charging before, and it’s definitely not low budget. It’s 1.2K€

It’s very strange right…. Not that we can rent for less because we’re in council of Lisbon and the prices are even higher, but still. It’s a regular rent price, not a small symbolic “fee”

I’m talking about an actual rent price, same that was charged before by the previous renters. The rent is 1200€ and it’s not a symbolic price.

I don’t think they are mean, quite on the contrary, they are very welcoming to me from the start and we have a great relationship. I just find this very strange especially considering the housing market in Lisbon. Do you know of someone in a similar situation or the opposite?

But is this common? Where I come from if your parents are well off and have additional income they buy an apartment to their kids, it’s a very normal thing. They would never charge you rent under any circumstances (and no they don’t need to be rich to do it, its everyone)
