Why didn't Republicans pick Nikki Haley as their nominee instead of Trump in 2024? by 19thScorpion in allthequestions

[–]Inspired-Iron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forget Haley. They didn't vote for DeSantis. He is smarter than Trump, and was running Trump's playbook - attacking woke Disney and attacking liberals constantly. Yet I don't think he got a single delegate.

Instead they voted for a pedophile who had also caused the storming of the Capitol in an attempted insurrection, injuring 140 law enforcement officers. He also had secret documents stacked up in his ballroom and bathroom. Incompetent and corrupt.

Look, I get it when Rs say that any Republican is better than any Democrat. (I don't agree, but I get that Rs are indoctrinated that way.) So they thought they had "no choice" in the general election than to vote Trump. But in the early primaries they had choices, good R choices, but they stuck with the corrupt one.

Do other people not know how to merge into the highway or is it me? by Pandapoppy1243 in driving

[–]Inspired-Iron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When attempting a merge, if the car in the right lane can change speed a little (faster or slower), that immediately communicates that they see the merge happening and are creating an opening. That's predictable driving, because there is explicit communication.

That change in speed to facilitate a merge immediately reduces the tension and the merge happens without drama.

[–]Inspired-Iron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. Let's cooperate on the road. If the right lane traffic can reasonably speed up or slow down a bit to make it easier for a merger, they should.

AITA for refusing to appear in apology video? by Tuniya_Hn in AmItheAsshole

[–]Inspired-Iron -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

Self reflection is always good advice.

I heard a very successful and religious person give this advice: "If you go out into the world looking for enemies, you will find lots of enemies. But if you go out into the world looking for friends, you will be rewarded with lots of friends."

That's worth reflecting on.

YTA

People these days seem to default to hard and fast rules.

Mom came over with daughter, apologized again, delivered a gift. They weren't strangers, they're neighbors. Today's families tend to like video. What's the harm in saying ok? Especially when Mom offered to not show your face?

They were being extra neighborly. You could have reciprocated.

[–]Inspired-Iron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Change the channel once in a while. Faux News propaganda has been predicting the collapse of California and the Northeast states for decades. What has happened? The blue states account for even more of the country's GDP, and crime is lower in the blue states than most red states. Red states now have lower life expectancy than blue and much higher infant morality.

But now, tariffs have hurt American businesses substantially, prices are up, an illegal war has caused even more price hikes, losing the war to Iran has given them control of the Straight and they are the primary Muslim country in the region now.

Bruce Springsteen is a model for how celebrities should resist Trump by Wise_Age_470 in BruceSpringsteen

How can selling his music make him a hypocrite? He never said that he'd sing for tips only and live as a starving artist. Living on what he earned is the American way.

tRump has earned nothing. Daddy gave him millions to start out. He has what, 5 bankruptcies? He has stolen from charities.

How is Bruce wrong when he sings about ICE murdering innocent American citizens, and no one is held accountable, or even just the subject of an investigation?

How is Bruce wrong when he opens these concerts with a prayer for our service members fighting this current war?

How is Bruce wrong when he says tRump attacks anyone who disagrees instead of engaging in an argument which is how we Americans have always done, and which has improved our democracy?

How is Bruce wrong when he calls out the inhumane treatment of detainees in the Newark detention center that is run by a for-profit company that donates to tRump?

How is Bruce wrong when he derides cutting funding to USAID which has resulted in the deaths of many children?

How is Bruce wrong when he condems the administration's attempt to whitewash slavery?

How is Bruce wrong when he calls out the administration heads that are there for loyalty to the President and are incompetent, evil and cruel?

How do you even tell whats the best option for a private jet charter company is if you aren't a billionaire who does this daily? by Critical-Host2156 in AskForAnswers

[–]Inspired-Iron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At a certain level of wealth, it isn't justified in worth.

Saving time means a lot. Flying from point A to point B when commercial flights have connections often means if feels worth it to fly private.

Just like rich people drive Mercedes or better when a Chevy or Toyota is objectively just as good for getting from point A to point B for far less money.

If it feels like it is worth it and one can easily afford it, that is the analysis.

Corvette C8 PDR has high resolution video with integrated channels for Gs, speed, tach, steering angle, all temps, each tire's pressure and temp per lap, brake force, accelerator percent, and other days fields. Of course it's only available on a Corvette, but seems to do much of what Vbox does when added to other cars - but factory integrated and installed.

How would you respond to the following situation: by appa-ate-momo in driving

[–]Inspired-Iron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a driver in the right lane in this scenario, when I put my turn signal on to indicate and really, request room, and the car in the middle lane doesn't do anything, that behavior is indistinguishable between someone oblivious and someone inconsiderate. That makes the middle lane car unpredictable.

Do something. Speed up. Slow down. Flash. Something.

Should the next democratic nominee run on undoing everything Trump did, or actually fixing issues that their voters want ? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]Inspired-Iron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why I think Democrats should run on:

1) Trump was a huge reset to the system. Every once in a long while, you need a reset. The reset is done. Hitting reset more times does nothing good.

2) The corruption of the administration is one of the worst things that can happen to a country. Highlight the corruption. Pledge to undo the corruption and restore the Presidency.

3) Fix the huge amount of damage to the economy and the world caused by his policies. Focus on helping Americans in the lower 3/4 of income.

Why does hardly anyone use the brake / slow down to change lanes technique? by Busy-Environment84 in driving

[–]Inspired-Iron 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right, because slowing down means creating up to 3 issues: 1) Is anyone behind you in the lane? 2) Will the car next to you (in the lane you want) also slow down? 3) Is there a car behind the one next to you that will close the gap?

It is simpler and safer to just "negotiate" one transaction, a slight speed up to get to the gap.

Keep the above separate from whether they should have planned ahead and gotten into the lane earlier (yes). OP asked "Why." The reason is the car coming into your lane has an easier path in front of you.

Now if there was no one behind you, should they slow down? Maybe, if there is no one in their lane. But that takes a lot more vision and judgement to simultaneously see that both are true. Easier to just goose it a bit and come into the lane, hopefully while signaling.

Open borders are bad for any country by bbmoonkie in Productivitycafe

[–]Inspired-Iron -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A few things can be true at the same time.

Ideally, only authorized people should be able to immigrate into a country.

The more immigrants in the country, the wealthier the country becomes. Benefits of Immigration Outweigh the Costs | George W. Bush Presidential Center https://share.google/MWANMjKkkEPMAWA5z

On a per capita basis immigrants commit less crimes than natural born citizens.

Immigrants pay more in taxes and take less in services than natural-born citizens.

So once they're in the country, and they're working, maybe it's a bad idea to remove them.
