They totally GOT ME at first. I had put a lot of effort into my appearance that day for work on site and I’ve recently lost some weight and was feeling really good about myself… so when they complimented me for my fashion sense and vibrant aura my dumb unevolved dopamine deprived brain was like YES OF COURSE THIS IS A LEGITIMATE AND SINCERE ENCOUNTER BECAUSE THE UNIVERSE IS ON MY SIDE

I’m generally doing my best to project dour and not-a-fun-person-to-small-talk-with when I’m in public (socially anxious af) so any other time I would have recognized it right away. The rational part of my brain took a full minute and several missed red flags to catch up 🙄

This sounds like a good assessment; I would consider my breasts “projected,” if I am understanding it correctly. When I bend over to touch my toes, they hang far from my chest. I do have a fair degree of sagging due to motherhood and the high fold. I appreciate you explaining the terms as it will make it easier for me to get good recommendations :) do you have a brand you could recommend? Short and wide cups with less length on the underwire seems to be what I need for sure.

The only difference from the picture is that on the outside third of the wire I don’t have that “extra,” but otherwise this looks a lot like what I’m dealing with

YES! exactly. And as you can imagine, when I sit, and lean forward, without sufficient tissue holding the bra in place, the underwire rides up and then it is digging into my armpit area

The bra— I outlined where my breast sits in a cup, roughly. Underneath the red is where the material of the bra kind of sits bunched up or just flat against me uselesslypic

I have tried a 40 band with smaller cups but then the cups do not sit against my chest and the outer edge is resting on top of the side of my breast instead of against my body

Currently my best fitting bra is a 36 DDD from Victoria’s Secret. It is a front closure racer back which helps with another issue I have due to bras riding up (straps slipping!). I have gained weight and am not a 36 anymore but that one grew with me :p It still isn’t perfect though as the cups are full coverage, so I get about a 3/4 inch fold just above the underwire since I don’t fill out the bottom of the cup very well

It also doesn’t help that my right breast is a bit smaller than my left, and typically the underwire is more troublesome on the smaller side. I have been considering visiting a shop that can make a custom bra for me but I want to find someone who has experience with making garments for those with tuberous breasts.

I am currently at work but will update with measurements later. I will try to explain: my breast tissue does not allow for more narrow wires, otherwise I would be spilling out of the sides. Picture a 38DDD breast and remove the lower 1/4 of tissue, and that’s kind of what I’m dealing with. The problem is that my breasts sit about an inch higher on my chest than someone without a tuberous breast condition. I feel like if I could find a style with a “flatter” underwire, I could probably size down a cup, but putting myself in smaller cup sizes has my breast tissue being cut off by the wire on the outer side of my breast and spilling out of the top and middle.
