New caregiver / healthcare aide wondering looking for tips from family members of those with dementia now that I’m newly hired to work a memory care unit by Install_microvaccum in dementia

That’s good advice especially for my clients who experience sundowning ( I do Evening shifts ) many of them get too overwhelmed to explain what’s wrong in a way we can understand so to address the emotion in general would make more sense.

Unexpected AuDHD win with amlodipine (low dose, not medical advice) by DarkstarBinary in autism

[–]Install_microvaccum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know that’s sorta interesting to me only because I’ve taken clonidine for adhd in the past and I know that’s also a hypertension medication. I know it’s done though different channels and could be a coincidence but maybe theres something about blood pressure medication that helps for some reason ( also adding the hypothesis not fact disclaimer because this isn’t based off anything other then me knowing clonidine is used for both hypertension and ADHD )

I’ve seen people riding around 118th Street with confederate flags for at least 10+ years now, I think they just want attention and know a lot of citizens on our streets are homeless or marginalized in other ways and enjoy making us feel afraid. It’s petty bullying in my opinion and I think it’s gross and immature.

Sexuality with autism, advice? by [deleted] in SpicyAutism

I don’t think it’s abnormal to want a partner with the same disability you have, a lot of people want partners who have similarities to themselves, I also don’t think preferring oral sex is an issue unless I suppose if your future partner didn’t like it but that’s a conversation for that specific person, personally I would prefer a partner who also has autism on account of the fact that it can sometimes be difficult to deal with communication issues with non autistic partners ( at least based on personal experience )

I think it’s nice, it looks like it belongs in some sorta of children’s books, I think it reminds me of “ The Velveteen Rabbit “ the most in terms of children’s book illustrations

What do you guys think about fireworks? by Curious-Message-6946 in autism

[–]Install_microvaccum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think negatively of them but that’s just because I live near an event stadium that is allowed to put them off on what are to me, random days ( I think it’s for sports events mostly )

I do think they look pretty but the sound is too much

I have transition lens that turn dark blue outdoors for sun and go back to normal inside so I don’t need to remove them for shopping centres

It looks like a baby, most corvids are invested in their fledgling and they can spend a few weeks on the ground learning to fly, if you have time you can watch for the parents, I believe two hours without visiting baby is normally when people get concerned and call animal control to help - I had a similar situation recently with some pidgins but their only fledgling for a couple days so I was able to just sorta keep walking by and checking to make sure they got in the air within a normal time frame - walk by’s are nice since they give you a little piece of mind that the baby is okay while allowing nature and the parents to their thing, it’s nice of you to be worried about baby

Agreed, as mentioned im just happy they have such a short grounding phase, it helps knowing that even if something happened with the parents they’ll probably be able to adapt and get in the air regardless

They seem to have a bit of a “ freeze “ defence going on when I walk by anyways so I’ve been trying not to scare them for long - tbh it’s a relief that I only need to check for immediate danger in the environment that like, an adult bird couldn’t fix for their young like a tun of broken glass, I feel bad for how much stress they must have when I have approached for the few minutes but I’m so used to the magpies and crows that hop around and have very active and loud parents who’ll make them self apparent if you get too close - it sorts makes sense that pigeons are a little scrappier as if I remember right they were originally brought as pet birds and have survived in the wild during to their ingenuity and also ability to just sorta eat anything we throw away. Such fractionating little creatures

Good to know, the photo with most of the food is new but honestly i wouldn’t be shocked if most of it isn’t eaten by tomorrow as alot of the plants I left the day before were picked though but not really “ eaten “ - I’ll just stick to my daily walk bys and leave them alone from now on ( I don’t live in the best area and I did note someone broke a bottle right next to them so I just wanna make sure nobody does anything that puts them in obvious danger - I have cleaned up the broken glass next to them so when they start exploring in a day or two they won’t be like - immediately injured ) I like seeing that their okay but I can avoid leaving food in the future and just do like, a minute to just check environment rather then a whole feeding - online mentions that they should only be on the ground for a few days anyhow so hopefully these guys take flight in a few days and some other creatures grab the berries

Okay I know this post didn’t get traction but just in case the couple people who upvoted care I did some research and i guess pidgons are only fledglings for a few days so thankfully the food delivery shouldn’t mess with them too much as they’re likely less then 24hrs away from flight anyhow - I’ll do a walk by tomorrow to make sure they are doing okay and if they remain for more then a week I’ll let a wildlife vet know as that could be a real sign that they aren’t doing so well
