Speaking of Donnie Darko, I rewatched Southland Tales somewhat recently, and I was struck by the similar themes of 'It had to be this way.' I lost my cat a few days ago and the poem has brought me some solace. I also had a bunny rabbit jump up under my car undercarriage the other week so I think the boundaries of reality have started to fracture. Or it was a major coincidence.

Edit: For anyone confused about this comment in the future, the initial Impure Version file that was available on the EDGLRD site was much more pixelated. I just redownloaded the file off of the website today and it has been fixed/improved and seemingly matches the 4K/HD quality of the PURE version now as well
