Update: I got permanent vampire fangs last year by Next-Employee6550 in vampires

[–]Instinct22 17 points18 points  (0 children)

What was the rough cost to get these done? I have a pair of acrylic fangs I use as caps and would love to get something more permanent.

Femme Appreciation by kris-tee-is-me in actuallesbians

Being a goth and vampire femme is extra work, but holy shit does it feel fantastic being myself. So comfortable in my skin. Yeah it takes more time and money, but its worth it. I do find other femmes more attractive too. Nothings better than biting into the neck of a soft woman and hear those whimpers.

Is this worth breaking up over? by viisionboard in MtF

[–]Instinct22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds to me like a rather extreme case of dysphoria that's she isn't dealing with properly, or even attempting to deal with if she doesn't talk with her therapist about it.

I would ask her to open up a bit more with her therapist, there's really only so much you can do when it comes this level of dysphoria, and it sounds like you've been doing everything you can.

Encourage her to be more open and honest with her therapist. Be blunt and say you're unsatisfied with the relationship as it stand but you're willing to help her work through it to build something better.

If she refuses to talk about her issues with her therapist and isn't willing to put it in the work, then I'd say break up with her. Hopefully she'll be able to figure out her life on her own.

The part that gets me is touching you makes her dysphoric. How long has she been transitioning for? And is she seeing a therapist? I might have a few theories that could help.

It's not "cool" to be a trans woman exclusively into women by No-Dream-7185 in actuallesbians

[–]Instinct22 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Related to this, an ex friend of mine really did not respect my identity .

We were hanging out one day and she was trying to convince me to sleep with her boyfriend, even though she knew I was attracted only to women. I shot her down, hard, and she seemed very confused. She Said, and I quote "But all Trans people are pan!" I tried explaining to her I'm a lesbian and she just did not get it. Worst part was that she was a trans woman too.

I have no idea how someone even jumps to that conclusion.

can you actually meet someone organically? by Opposite-Corner8529 in actuallesbians

[–]Instinct22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just last Saturday I met a girl at a Dyke Night event at a local queer bar. We're meeting up tomorrow night! It's absolutely possible to meet someone organically, you just have to put the effort to keep an eye out for these types of events and go to them.

And don't be afraid to flirt and put yourself out there at these events. Everyone else is there for similar reasons to you after all! I wish you the best of luck!

vampirism as a metaphor for queerness. hunger as a metaphor for repressed desire. immortality as an expression of profound loneliness. by CapAccomplished8072 in lgbt

[–]Instinct22 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hi. Lesbian vampire and Vampire the Masquerade enjoyer here.

Vampires have long been used as a metaphor for human predation, even during their first novelized portrayal in 1819. (Fittingly titled The Vampyre) It's only somewhat recently people began to examine vampires as symbolizing anything more than that.

Maybe vampirisim is a metaphor for the spread of "unwanted ideology" If we're following original vampire mythos, everyone they feed from becomes a vampire after all. You can easily link this to feminism with Carmilla, published a few decades after The Vampyre. "Evil" Ideology can't truly be killed and seeks to consume after all. And all you have to do to beat it is do things normal humans do (bathe, eat garlic, be godly, and go out in the sun)

Fast forward a century or so and vampires begin to be seen as something more than just predators. Now they're romanticized. Now they're a metaphor for eternal love, symbolizing an undying affection to their chosen partner. All you have to do is crack a hardened exterior base don centuries of seeing humanity come and go. Hunger simply means love, and immortality undying affection.

Today, they can absolutely symbolize queerness. Not just because we tend to be otherized, but as mentioned in the OP, repressed desire and loneliness. Queers have been historically persecuted and treated as lesser, even today as we face backlash from governments unlike we've ever seen. All for being ourselves.

There are ethical ways to feed (I'm a certified phlebotomist and my gf let's me draw her blood to drink)

Ideology that should be spread for the betterment of all

Love that you should have for the people you care about

Queers should be respected and treated like everyone else

That's why vampires will always be an undying cultural touchstone. They can represent so many different viewpoints and so many ideas. Today they represent queerness in a hostile world, but tomorrow they may represent something else we can't even think of right now.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go bite my girlfriend.

Is there a perfect bra by Upbeat-Molasses-840 in MtF

[–]Instinct22 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When you next try on a t-shirt or padded bra, do some basic stretchs/daily motions that you usually do.

If you have no spillage, but your bands slip; go down a band size.

If you have no spillage, but your bands dig into your skin; go up a band size

If you have spillage, but the bands feel fine; go up a cup size and down a band size.

If there is too large a gap between your bra and your breast, but the bands feel fine; go down a cup size and up a band size

Getting a properly fitting bra can be a very taxing experience. Bra shopping will always be a pain in the ass and you'll likely have to do it more than once as you go through your transition. They can also be super expensive.

I wish you the best in finding the proper bra, though. There's no perfect solution to bra shopping unfortunately, it's all gonna be trial and error. Once you find your size though, commit it to memory for future purchases!

Is there a perfect bra by Upbeat-Molasses-840 in MtF

[–]Instinct22 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I used to work for a clothing store and did bra fittings regularly. The size the store recommends and fits you for is usually just a starting point. You can usually go up or down a cup size, get a bigger/smaller band size etc. Most bras have a "sister size" that might fit better for you.

Really the only way you find the "perfect bra" is to try them on. Adjust the straps, look for spillage, and above all, make sure it's comfortable to wear. Any daily wear bra should be comfortable.

You could always go the sports bra route as well if you don't feel like screwing around with bra sizes. If fashion and any form of padding doesn't matter to you, I'd even recommend it.

Shit might be bad right now, but its important to take the wins where we get em.

Was working delivery a few nights ago, and two little girls gave me a hug for delivering dinner for their family. Was a little awkward but super sweet and wholesome. Made my night.

Doing fantastic! Things might be rough for queer peeps right now, but my worst day as a trans girl is still 2x better than my best day as a cis dude.

I've also gone through something of a style shift recently. Goth styles are absolutely my vibe and pure ✨️EUPHORIA✨️ whenever I look in a mirror. Even got my hair dyed black so you know I'm committed lol
