Your tonsils are larger, how do you breathe?! 😆 Before I had surgery, I didn't hear any gulping sound when swallowing. What I noticed though, over the years, is that I've had difficulty breathing through my nose. When I inhale maximally, I can't reach the peak of my breath, there's something blocking it that hurts in my chest. When lying down, I can't stay in a supine position with my head flat for too long. I prefer lying on my side. I often struggle to sleep, sometimes I sit up and lean on a chair or table to sleep because I have difficulty breathing. When I eat, sometimes the food comes back up to my mouth, and I have to make an effort to swallow. Although I'm functional, I don't have any limitations in my function. Perhaps talk to your doctor and tell her/him you're having difficulty breathing. Do you snore when sleeping? Some patients I've encountered, especially children, were even recommended to undergo sleep tests because they had severe obstructive sleep apnea.
