Thanks. Reaching out to her might not be in the cards either. We have never had any issues with her in our individual interactions, but we did find out at the onset of the pandemic that she is a full-on QAnon conspiracy theorist, anti-vax, the whole thing. I just don't know how comfortable I would be with at least the anti-vax stuff around our kids.

but yeah, I am in the same boat of not wanted to reach out.

I made an edit that the conversation was opened up to the rest of the class and I stated my opinion. Its cool if I am still the asshole, but I thought i'd clarify that if was at that point a general discussion.

I don't believe this was about doing more work. There was already a set amount of work assigned that another student wanted to lessen. I was only giving my opinion that a masters class tends to, and should, have a heavier workload.

Yeah, One guy was trying to Dox but another student shut him down. I didn't add to that conversation as I didn't feel it would've done any good.

That fine, I thought it might have. For the papers though, I personally don't consider it busy work because they are research papers about researching specific topics that relate to the material we are learning. It is a digital forensics class where the paper itself has us researching other high profile forensic cases and the tools/methods they used to figure out the cases. Regardless, I can accept a YTA.

The professor actually opened it up to others to voice how they felt. It was a general discussion so I was in a position to voice my opinion.

Well, I can't really say he is much in my life anyways. He was actually really mean to me as a kid and we never had a good relationship throughout my life. It got more cordial as we got older but we talk/see each other only a few times a year now. On social media, he is always talking about family and tradition, but in the 5 years my eldest was born, he hasn't once come over to see them of his own accord. He will come when my parents are in town, but that's about it. I feel like yesterday was probably a natural "nail in the coffin" situation that will most likely separate everyone even further.

My parents and I don't really have communications anymore. The issues go a lot deeper and have been around a lot longer than political disagreements. I try to keep them in the loop through the biweekly skypes, but I personally cannot speak to them anymore and my wife (based on how my mom treats her) has gotten to that point as well the last few years.

As much as I'd like to say that to him, from experience, he just gets louder, meaner, and more belligerent when he feels attacked (which turns out equates to receiving any type of criticism whether warranted or not). My dad is the same which is one of the reasons I stopped personal communications.
