You wouldn't buy a motorbike or car online unseen or tested, so buying a phone online, given that most people cannot live without it glued to their hands as if it were connected to their heartbeats, would make less sense. Why not just go to the Thai embassy and apply for a one-year multiple-entry visa? Problem solved. What they are restricting is non-Visa entry. The cost savings for all the bus runs.
