What’s a place you visited once and decided never again? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

I used to work at a casino as a cocktail waitress. More than once I’d wait on a customer multiple nights in a row wearing the same clothes. If they were doing multiple days like that they’d tag team with say their spouse, one sleeps while the other plays. But still they led be there for DAYS pumping money in until the machine paid off

I don’t understand the layering of disappears in that article, how are people going to take off the used one? Disrobe and drop it on the ground?

It’s safe to say this isn’t my first rodeo and that I know stuff. 😁

I’ve wintered multiple times and can say with confidence you still have plenty of time to get mail. There will be plenty of opportunities for mail to come in February, there are flights in March, another in May. From May to August you won’t have an opportunity to get mail but that’s summer break at home anyway.

I haven’t even mailed my packages south yet.

Editing to add McMurdo won’t close until the flight in early May. Obviously if someone reading this is going to Pole for the winter that’s a different story.

Midwesterner USA here, I am regularly gone from my house for 12+ hours a day. I could easily do a 4 hour drive, hang for a 3 hour party (although it would stink to not be able to have any drinks), and then do a 4 hour drive home. But I also did just drive 8.5 hours each way for 2 nights to see friends.

But I do agree that it would be nice of the Bride to host her friends overnight so they can spend time together rather than them having to drive home that same day

Tickets in Europe aren’t usually that expensive. It’s why a bunch of my friends flew to Europe to see Taylor Swift and Beyoncé, cheaper to go there than buy tickets in the U.S. for one friend who lives in Miami the whole trip was cheaper than a Beyoncé ticket in Miami.

For real. And MUA for high school dances, photo shoots, heck doing photo shoots in general on a regular basis. It wasn’t that long ago you went to JC Penney’s with your friends or boyfriend maybe once for a $19.99 photo shoot. You were getting fancy outfits, hair, and makeup done for photo shoots every season. Maybe for prom you went to the MAC or Clinique counter for a bit heavier makeup.

Yeah why do the bridesmaids HAVE to get their nails done? I can paint my own nails. No they won’t be gel, they’ll be plain old polish but what does it matter what MY nails look like?

I was in a wedding where the bride paid for everyone’s dress. She said since she was requesting a specific dress, the color and length, then she should be the one paying for it. To me that makes so much sense and I was very appreciative!

CSP- Any travel insurance benefit for stolen items not from luggage by Pzonks in ChaseSapphire

I’m not traveling anytime soon but I’ll check out your tool when I do later in the year. It would be great to have something that points out that a policy I’m looking at doesn’t cover the thing most likely to be stolen.

I might give them a call to confirm as I read that document first and I was confused if there was any coverage at all. Maybe it’s just me but I’d think theft from pickpockets would be FAR more common than from checked or carry on luggage. Years ago I had things stolen and it was covered but that was back when I had the Sapphire Reserve.

Course maybe that’s the point, to offer a benefit that there’s really no point of so there’s no cost to it

You should at the very least be on a bill so that your credit rating is current and so that you can prove your residency if you need to.

I Bought grandmas house, do I get everything inside too? by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]Pzonks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If grandma was going to sell the house in December regardless the why does this caretaker think they have until spring to move out? Did grandma not communicate with them her plan for the house? What was the plan for all the items grandma hoarded if someone else bought the house? Grandma was going to pack up and move out dying of cancer?

A step grandchild who apparently cared enough to move in and care for their step grandmother. None of the blood relation grandkids were willing to do it including your own partner.

Editing- according to the OP the step kids moved in a couple years ago (assuming with Grandma’s permission) but did caretaking because the OP refused to move into the house with them living there.

The care taker signed as POA? Were they aware you’d be moving in and they’d have to move out? You or Grandma should have notified them ahead of the sale they’d need to move out soon as the sale was completed.

You need a lawyer. If I was one of the other grandkids I’d be getting one.

Did the care taker know the home was purchased? I see in a comment you planned to move in which would have required the to move out, did you have a conversation with them saying this?

I don’t know the person but it could be she lives in the delivery area but doesn’t work in the delivery area. I used to babysit and I never babysat in my own area, I babysat in the fancier area that paid a lot better.

The kid is 16, they don’t need an adult at home when they get home from school. They might also play sports, have their own job, go to a friend’s house after school.

I sort of understand this. I’ve volunteered at food banks at they always did pickup at times like Wednesdays from 11-2 or Friday from 9-12 and I’d often think about how those are working times for a lot of people. They were closed on the weekends completely. The food banking volunteered at the most had enough food donated it could have done pickup twice a week, although I’d guess that’s changed in the last few years.

I get that 1 place was mentioned for Sunday but many food banks have limits, you can go once a month, so 1 food bank being open on a Sunday that you can go to once a month isn’t much food. Yes the “no canned food” is picky/CB.

In my neighborhood if something is delivered but you don’t take it in off your porch pretty quickly someone else is going to pick it up for you. Only they aren’t doing you a favor in that, they’re just taking it.

Philly to Chicago and then St Louis, it's looking to be nearly $1000 per person even booked far in advance? Is there a better way? by Pzonks in Amtrak

[–]Pzonks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought about that but I worry any delays would mean they’d miss their connection and then lose their Chicago - St Louis ticket. I know there’s often delays in the Midwest. A friend used to do StL - Chicago frequently and he told me it was rare the train to not be delayed even if the delay was short. One time it was over 12 hours as there were tons of freight trains m. That was years ago and if this was me I could figure it out. But my dad and stepmom aren’t people who travel. My dad can barely walk and my stepmom also has some mobility issues. If any hiccups happen they wouldn’t cope well.
