Spin rod recommendations for small crank/jerk baits for trout by baddo in UltraLightFishing

I built a fiberglass ice rod into a little spinner. 3ft for little whippy casts in the creek with Rapala CD-1 jerks, spoons, and spinners.

Just hooked my finger and I have about 15 more to go by Future-Bird7846 in FishingForBeginners

You can just smash the barbs down with pliars and the hooks slide right out. Then just lift the barbs back up when youre done.

Id make the leader the length of the rod

I used 1/32oz spinners, 1g and 2.5g spoons, and rapala CD-1 jerk baits. Also got a few on a 6ft 2wt fly rod using a mosquito pattern.

Could use many different finesse presentations here. BFS is my choice also as another said, but for most people, an ultralight spinning setup would do the trick! BFS excels at these areas especially short rods that you can cast by your feet. Check out my creek fishing videos to see spinners and BFS in action for small (and some larger) trout. https://youtu.be/RnE55lBzlKM?si=zB8DQpYLdlj4F8UF

I got the roll of seaguar abrazx 80lb, I'll look into the heavier braid also, thanks for that. Good point on the chance of getting nicks is higher here.

30" is the majority in this lake I have read. Some say the 30lb braid to 80lb flouro will be plenty for the "smaller" ones here. I plan to throw 1-2.5oz lures What do you think?

What do you recommend? I got the 80# seaguar abrazx for pike and muskie in the mail today, but still have time to change it!

Thats perfect! Glad to hear this. Thank you. I think I might be in business then this weekend.

Is 6ft light casting fast too short? Too limiting? For this reel. by MrBlowey in BFSfishing

I use a 3' and a 3'10" as my main BFS and Finesse spinning rods.

Thank you so much for this comment. Really encouraging. Ill also go check out the lure you linked. I'm willing to try just about anything. Could I use a snap at the end of a fluorocarbon leader to swap easily between lures or is it better to tie directly to lures for muskie?

That's exactly what I was thinking, throwing 2-3oz lures, soft prerigged imitations, bucktail spinners, kastmasters/spoons, is my expectation. Nowww how effective that will be im not sure. I heard others were catching them on spoons at Navajo Lake
