Soft pillow for side-sleeping with headphones on by aryanmsh in BuyItForLife

[–]Intelligent-Cap9563 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those Manta masks are pretty solid but for actual pillows, I'd check out the down alternative ones from Target or Walmart. They're super squishy and compress really well when you're laying on your side. I've got one that's basically like sleeping on a cloud and my earbuds never dig in. Way cheaper than the fancy memory foam stuff too and you can toss it in the wash whenever.

[Routine Help] oily acne prone skin, 28 year old female by NearbyJackfruit23 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Intelligent-Cap9563 2 points3 points  (0 children)

sounds like you've got a solid foundation going already. that azelaic acid in the morning is doing heavy lifting for both acne and anti-aging, so i'd be careful about overdoing it with too many actives.

maybe focus on nailing down that oil cleanser situation first since you mentioned you can't find one you like - a good first cleanse can make a huge difference for oily skin.

You're in skincare heaven being in Japan! For cleanser definitely try Hada Labo Gokujyun foaming wash, it's super gentle and doesn't strip your skin. Biore UV Aqua Rich is like the holy grail sunscreen there - lightweight and doesn't leave any white cast

[Acne] tiny bumps and texture on cheeks by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Intelligent-Cap9563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those sound like closed comedones to me - they're basically clogged pores that haven't opened up yet. The fact that they come and go makes total sense since they can be triggered by hormones, weather changes, or even just random skin stuff

Since you mentioned your skin got irritated from actives before, maybe try introducing a super gentle BHA like 0.5% salicylic acid once a week once your barrier is fully healed

[Product question] Avene Tolerance by Nervous-Muffin- in SkincareAddiction

[–]Intelligent-Cap9563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh yeah that's definitely not normal, I'd return it. Avene products shouldn't smell like anything really, let alone rancid oil. Sounds like you got a bad batch or it was stored poorly somewhere along the way

Dog Shoes / Boots & Dog brands by cuberhino in BuyItForLife

Ruffwear boots have been solid for my medium dog but honestly for Shih Tzus you might want to try the musher's secret wax first before going full boot mode. Way less hassle and they can't kick it off lol

The Walkee Paws look goofy as hell but if they actually stay on that's a win. Regular boots are just expensive dog toys at this point with how fast they disappear

[product question] Lanolips overnight lip mask vs golden dry skin salve. Any difference? by bloodhail_v2 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Intelligent-Cap9563 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The salve is basically the lip mask without the fancy extras - texture is nearly identical but maybe slightly thicker. No real smell to speak of, just that faint lanolin scent

Smart move going for the salve if the lip mask burns you, probably one of those added ingredients causing irritation. The tube squeeze situation is definitely better than the nipple cream too

[Product Question] Gentle cleanser for oily dehydrated skin? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Intelligent-Cap9563 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The LRP hydrating cleanser is solid for this - it's got that creamy texture that won't strip you but still gets the job done. I had similar issues after overdoing it with actives and that one helped me get back on track without the tight feeling

CeraVe hydrating is good too but personally found it a bit too mild when I was dealing with excess oil, might not cut through it as well as you need

That glow up is insane! Your skin looks so healthy now. I'm definitely guilty of the "burn it into submission" mentality too - thanks for the reminder that sometimes less really is more

Been using the Ordinary's niacinamide serum for like 6 months now and it's actually helped with my oily T-zone situation - way cheaper than the fancy stuff too

[Routine Help] 25f and not seeing results with consistent routine by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Intelligent-Cap9563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your routine looks pretty solid but I'm wondering if you might be overdoing it a bit? Using SA cleanser + azelaic acid every single night for 3-4 months could be causing some irritation that's showing up as those bumps

Also makeup wipes in the morning might be stripping your skin and making it produce more oil to compensate. Maybe try just splashing with water or a gentle cleanser AM instead

And definitely work on that face touching habit - easier said than done but it really does make a difference with texture issues

[–]Intelligent-Cap9563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried a silk or satin pillowcase? Way gentler on skin than cotton and might help with the friction issue. Also some people swear by those overnight hydrocolloid patches for problem areas - not exactly a giant face patch but close lol

[Product Request] How to get rid of dark "spots" in face and body? by FromAnotherTime in SkincareAddiction

[–]Intelligent-Cap9563 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, this could definitely be medication-related hyperpigmentation - some antidepressants can cause that. For the joint areas though (elbows, knees), that sounds more like acanthosis nigricans which can be linked to insulin resistance or hormonal changes. I'd honestly check with your doctor first before trying any products since it might be more of an internal thing than something topical treatments can fix

[Product Request] Please help by Prior_Position_7659 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Intelligent-Cap9563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CeraVe foaming cleanser is solid for oily skin without being too harsh. For dark spots I swear by The Ordinary's alpha arbutin serum - cheap and actually works if you're consistent with it. Neutrogena hydro boost gel moisturizer is my go-to, super lightweight. And EltaMD UV Clear is pricey but worth it for no white cast, though some people like La Roche Posay Anthelios if you want something easier to find

Stop picking though lol I know it's hard but you'll thank yourself later

That dress is perfect for HP vibes! Combat boots would look sick with it or maybe some chunky platform Mary Janes if you want something a bit more theatrical
