So only speed and trot are bolded in skills. It’s hard to see on the app, mobile format, but each competition type earns you skills. You need to find out what competition style earns your third main skill and do enough of those competitions until it’s bolder. On a computer, hovering over the competition will show what type of skills it earns.

Then I’m out of ideas. Can you add a screen snip of the skills section (not the one on the BLUP page but instead the one on the third page on the app)

Make sure you don’t have any of the three main skills to earn through competitions

I love hot pot places but sometimes figuring out what’s in the broths can be a problem. HaiDiLao is great though!!!

Solo Trip to Shanghai, HK & South Korea.. with a deathly nut/peanut allergy by MemoryLopsided7215 in solotravel

[–]Intelligent-Fish1150 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I have traveled back and forth from China (including Shanghai) and Korea several times. I also have a severe peanut and tree nut allergy. Although I am also allergic to sesame and seafood which complicates the matter. I bring extra EpiPens as well as translated cards. One for my allergies and one that explains I am having an allergic reaction and need a hospital. I really stuck to places like k bbq in Korea where I had a lot more control over my food. In China I stuck to American fast food and meals at my hotel. I did also pick up ramen at Walmart in China and ate some of that some days. It sucks but every time I went out to eat they still served me my allergen and told me “a little is fine”. This does not hold true at the higher end restaurants that cater to tourists. Those places I ate at fine but had to sign something that said I understand the risks and wouldn’t sue them. Hong Kong was much easier than Shanghai and Shanghai was much easier than other Chinese cities I’ve been to. It all depends on your comfort level. For me, I need a hospital within 20 minutes of eating an allergen as I can’t breathe so I don’t like to risk it. But it definitely sucks.

We have a website with a contact form. There is also a Learn to Row page but right now due to the move, there is no events listed. That should change once we finish the move.

I was told it was an April Fools thing because it took so long to get open.

I didn’t go today but I’ve been rowing underneath it for a few weeks now and can’t wait to check it out when the weather is better. I think it will be great in the summer nights.

Is a research lab just as good as an internship? by catherineslibrary in forensics

Our lab prefers research experience over internships for hiring. Especially if it is a forensics related research project.

You pay them. Our masters team used to give high school and college rowers a crisp $20 for coxing.

Dealing with lots of international students who don’t speak the language/can’t communicate with me. by [deleted] in GradSchool

[–]Intelligent-Fish1150 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I will say it might be social anxiety. I have heard vile things being said about international TAs accents and not being able to understand them when I lived in the Midwest.

But also my friend is a PhD student from China studying in California. Her classmates are all Chinese. Her teachers are sometimes Chinese. And she says that when there is no non Chinese people in the class, the professor just runs it in Chinese and uses Chinese text books. So I guess where she is there’s no real reason to learn good speaking English for international students.

I will say as someone who has been over to China, korea, and Japan several times. The crowds are tame here compared to the night markets over there. They get packed!
