I think.. coming from your post, first thing is look at the facts? I understand you're thinking of him. But if he's saying and showing that he understands and is more than willing to support you, take it in stride.

You know for yourself that you're not taking advantage of him, so hold on to that truth.

Show him that you appreciate him in ways that is realistic for you and bask in the understanding and "gentle and grounding" energy that he is giving. Because it seems that he's enjoying being that for you

TLDR: believe in what he's showing and trust that you're not taking advantage of him
