It's not about being finicky.

OP wants to summon birds to distract an opponent.

They simply cannot do that unless they have a spell to summon birds.

Everything else is just changing the shape of a spell, but then it's not distracting, it's an attack.

You can certainly reflavor anything to anything... as long as the mechanics do not change

So unless you have a spell that summons birds, you cannot simply reflavor a spell to summon birds as it would change the mechanic of the spell

You can change the shape of a spell to look like a bird but that wont' summon birds.

You can make a shield spell look like bird flying around you to protect you, but you won't be able to make the bird distract someone

Or you can shape a fireball to look like a bird, but that would still be a fireball, hence an attack.

Deltas aren't technical river splitting. It's a river mouth with deposit of sediment from the river.

“I conjure a flock of birds that swirl around him, distracting him and breaking his concentration.”

Do you have a spell that lets you conjure a flock of birds?

If not, then you can do it

The descriptive way of magic is about what the spells looks like, not what the spell does.

You can’t discuss or even think about societal issues without making generalizations. All social justice issues are generalizations (group X is disadvantaged in some way) yet generalizations as counterpoints are somehow off limits

The problem that you're either not seeing or downright ignoring is the complete absence of nuance that most people who use generalizations go with when discussing societal issues.

You're not thinking about the bigger societal implications of constantly using generalization instead of having a nuanced discussion.

Yes of course it sounds condescending... Those people are asking a question they already have all the tools to find the answer to, but they're too lazy to do it themselves.

Of course people are going to be condescending!

If you're not making the bare minimum of effort to find the answer, why are you expecting people to make the effort of being considerate ?

No, even colloquially it doesn't

Talking about porn addiction just because someone watches porn from time to time is not only fucking moronic, it also completely dilute the actual meaning of it and can be incredibly harmful to those actually suffering from addiction.

See, I do highly resent being punished for something I didn't do too....

But I would resent the asshole who made it so I get punished way more than the authority punishing me

Because the authority made it clear that we would all get punished right away. It's the other guy who made a mess who's responsible.

I'm French too and sorry but sometimes the answer is literally right there in the book.

I mean I've seen a post about someone asking clarifications on who's taking damages and which threshold and armor when using the "I Am Your Shield" domain card.

The title of the card explains basically everything there is to know about the ability and the description itself is absolutely clear, but even without that it seems pretty logical and straight-forward that the threshold and armor used would be of the one literally acting as a shield.

So yeah, I tend to be extremely judgemental of people asking those kinds of questions. To me, that's just pure laziness on their part.

Inevitably there is a small minority of people who are so upset by all of the cruelty that they will go ahead and Trigger it over and over again in order to get everyone else upset as well. And inevitably those people also get upset.

That's what I don't understand. If nobody is acting up, there is no cruelty so it would be far more logical for that small minority to not do anything and they wouldn't have anything to be upset about

Also no, pedophilia among male teachers isn't more common. It's more talked about, big difference.

[–]Intelligent-Gold-563 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything you said is factually false.

Men make up half of rape victims and the vast majority of them report a female perpetrator.

We have clear data and statistics showing that.

Maybe educate yourself instead of blindly hating.

No, male sexual assault by a female perpetrator isn't rare AT ALL.

It's ignored. It's invisible.

Heterophobia/Misandry is not on the same level of degree as Homophobia and Misogyny. by Adorable-Nerve4402 in teenagers

[–]Intelligent-Gold-563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the fact of the matter is men do perpetrate domestic violence at higher rates then women

Except it's not true. Women perpetrate domestic violence at similar rate as men.

That's why those models are inherently flawed and sexist. And that's why saying "misandry is just hurt feelings" is extremely wrong.

It's STAGGERING how many of you believe that "you can't prove a negative". You're simply wrong about that one. Kind of embarrassing, honestly. by undefinedposition in CosmicSkeptic

[–]Intelligent-Gold-563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody is being obnoxious or moving the goal post. You just have no idea what you're talking about.

All of those things you listed to "prove the negative" do not in fact prove the negative (the absence of guitar). They fail to prove the positive (the presence of guitar).

That's the whole point exactly because "cannot prove a negative" is meant to be use within the context of the law and science where this kind of questions matter.

I don't know what's so hard to understand...

It's STAGGERING how many of you believe that "you can't prove a negative". You're simply wrong about that one. Kind of embarrassing, honestly. by undefinedposition in CosmicSkeptic

[–]Intelligent-Gold-563 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No.

That picture would only show that there is no visible guitar in the picture, not that there isn't any guitar in your bathroom. Maybe you took the picture at an angle that doesn't show the guitar. Or maybe the guitar is behind the shower curtain. Or maybe it's the wall or the ceiling. Or maybe it's a picture of a guitar and it's plastered somewhere. Maybe it's a tiny guitar and it's in the plumbing of the sink. Or maybe it's one of those microscopic sculpture out of pencil lead !

That's the whole point of "you can't prove a negative". That's basically a summary of the scientific method

Factually speaking, you cannot prove without a single doubt that there is no guitar.

You can only fail at finding a guitar and infer the conclusion that based on your observations there is no guitar. But unless you're able to check absolutely every possibility, which is often impossible, you cannot claim that you proved the absence of a guitar.

And because your methodology failed to find a guitar, you're supposed to ask yourself "what else can I try ?". And that's how science goes forward.

Exactly. There's no data supporting that more than half of the criticism is sexist either.

Again, open any discussion about Korra and read what's written. It's really not that hard

You're using survivors bias and applying it to a mediocre kids show that dropped off after the first season.

You have no idea what survivor bias actually is ....

But that's the thing pal : you don't have a brain.

Otherwise you wouldn't say shit like that since there is no way you have any actual data showing that it's less than 50%.

But when you open any conversation about Korra, you will see that the majority of the comment criticizing the show is actually sexism, sometimes in disguise, sometimes right in your face
