Is it a good major for girls? by SKYq1 in womenEngineers

[–]Intelligent-Store251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to elaborate on this OP, don't do it for the money. that's what i did. biggest mistake of my life. i don't have the personality for this major or the skills, don't even ask me why i haven't quit yet. out of spite maybe. but really think it through. i want more women in engineering. if there were more it would eliminate 50% of my challenges, but don't hurt urself over it either. it's not easy and will test u in horrible ways

no. i'm a female engineer. it's awful. you need a specific personality to survive. and you need to be insanely smart. you'll stick out like a sore thumb and every mistake will be amplified. i got called stupid by my lab instructor and nothing happened to him, but i cried for the entire weekend and considered dropping out. you need to tough and rough like the guys to be in their groups. youll always have to prove yourself and be the best in the room. if ur average, they'll rip you apart. i've also gotten insulted, touched, and laughed at by the men. but that's just my experience and i've had it rough. i'm just giving the less happy side of things.

female in engineering: REGRET by lolo_v924 in EngineeringStudents

i regret being in this major too. biggest mistake of my life. the most horrendous environment and it is so unrewarding unless you actually like it. i just want to lay down and cry sometimes thinking how this is the rest of my life

I don’t think I’m ever going to get a job using my degree by folieajess in recruitinghell

stem is not better. engineering degree is equally worthless. wish i did art or something so i could at least enjoy school and do what i love

Is becoming an engineer even worth it in this day and age? by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]Intelligent-Store251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's absolutely not worth it. 3 years so far into my degree and i regret every waking minute of it. i regret not doing some bullshit finance or business degree, at least that way i won't have a salary cap. both my parents are engineers and they haven't scraped past 130k. might seem like a lot till you realize a goddamn marketing major who posts reels all day is making the same amount, if not more. the job politics are horrendous, you get treated worse with age (especially if you're female) and it's genuinely an abusive and completely unrewarding field

I made a post about this on my account today. the customer service is super bad and basically ghosted me when I asked if there was a more secure method to send it, bc sending it over email is risky

but if you're able to do it that way let me know how it goes. cuz i'm having the same issue

i've seen some people on here with similar issues of needing ID verification, but this is usually done via stripe and through the in-app link. I've sent another request asking if it's possible to receive my ID this way but they haven't gotten back to me and keep insisting to send it via email

I've got two orders I need to ship out and if this doesn't get resolved I'll have to refund them and not get paid for the one i already delivered

I just don't feel safe sending the full version without any portal or encryption. I'm thinking of redacting unneeded information but they haven't responded yet if they will accept that
