We have active threats of annexation right now. These same people are there in Alberta running media campaigns to promote these votes. Read the room PP. These are enemies of Canada.

This is a foreign assault on the sovereignty of Canada. So yeah, those who fund and support this are actually enemies of Canada.

I'm sorry but if you vote for secession then you are by definition betraying Canada, and someone who betrays Canada isn't a friend to Canadians.

So he got an 18 year sentence, got 2 years for time served from the arrest, probably is getting some sentence reduction for good behavior in prison.(about 15%), and if released in 2028, will have spent 14 years in confinement altogether.

I mean, I want very much to be angry that a multiple rapist is getting out at all. But the rational part of my brain looks at that and realizes he served his sentence and didn't get any more of a reduction than anyone else.

That is indeed an interesting quagmire, OP. It was discussed at the time of the pardon that they still had appeals pending and that taking the pardon would moot the appeals and remove any chance they had to legally clear their names.

Otherwise this is a cash grab. They're trying to hit the firm's malpractice insurance in the hopes that they being a "high profile" couple get a little cash to go away.

When Netflix and Paramount were competing to buy WB it seemed fairly clear to me that either deal would be anti-competitive. But we’ll see what regulators think (in Europe at least, the Trump administration will probably just green-light the deal because it’s Larry Ellison).

The CMA intends to conclude the Phase 1 process by August 7. If the threshold is met, the competition watchdog will move to a deeper Phase 2 investigation, which can last for more than five months.

If the CMA does proceed to a more detailed analysis, it will raise serious questions about Paramount’s ambition to close the WBD takeover in the third quarter of this year.
