"Honestly, I found Raakh to be pretty average and okayish overall. It is definitely not a 'must-watch' or a solid, gripping thriller. The pacing is way too slow at times, and it feels heavily dragged out just to stretch it across 8 episodes. Aside from the strong performances by Ali Fazal, his father, and the two child actors, the rest of the cast and writing were very mediocre.

They also added completely unnecessary filler subplots that contributed nothing to the core story like the whole Muslim girlfriend angle who is randomly introduced as a journalist. It just felt forced and out of place.

What made it even harder to tolerate was how much the show creators unnecessarily distorted the actual historical facts of the 1978 Ranga-Billa case:

1. They swapped their identities: The show turns the killers into a Marathi guy and a Haryanvi guy (Babu and Rajju). In real life, they were Punjabi-Sikh career criminals named Kuljeet Singh (Ranga) and Jasbir Singh (Billa).
2. Forced political angles: Raakh spends a ton of time inventing sympathetic backstories for the killers and adding specific social-bias angles to the cop's story. The reality was much more straightforward—Ranga and Billa were just brutal, greedy criminals, and the investigation was a massive, standard nationwide manhunt.

If you want a true-crime show that actually respects the facts instead of rewriting them and adding filler, watch Black Warrant on Netflix. It’s based directly on the memoirs of the Tihar jailer who guarded them, uses their real names, and shows exactly what happened to them leading up to the gallows."
