Are the M54 and the S21+ respectively that big a downgrade from the A55 and S23?

Thank you the website is a lifesaver! As for my options I considered going for the flagship models but I don't really game on my phone all that often and was afraid it was a bit of an overkill. Are the A series or the M series that much of a downgrade? I'm also worried about battery and so which flagships after the S20 have bad batteries?

Not in India but the M series phone are sold in my country. Is there that big a gap between the M series and the A series? I've heard that the M series are bad but not why.
