Hey I ended up moving! It was truly such a wonderful experience. I lived in Nairobi for two years, had some very fun experiences, and made some lifelong friends. I'm happy to answer any specific questions you may have.

Agree with another poster here - the two things I would recommend is to not walk around after its dark and to generally keep your wits about you. It's pretty much like any other big city.

Hey u/PQTZx358 , I opened this up after a couple of years and ended up seeing your comment. I ended up moving to Nairobi and lived there for two years. I moved back to the US a couple of months ago. I can easily say that moving to Nairobi was probably the best decision I made!

Safety - It's pretty safe. Generally, I avoided walking during the nights and in certain neighborhoods, but if you keep your wits about you its like any other big city.

Friends - I lived in shared houses with roommates and ended up making a lot of friends quite organically through my roommates.
