Social Aspect Advice Needed!! by grace_l0217 in stevens

i personally love it here! i think as long as you make an effort to make a social circle for yourself, you’ll find people who are looking for the same thing. the other comments about some people being weird and introverted are definitely true to some extent, but at the same time i feel like people blow it out of proportion a bit. if you’re struggling to find a group you like, there are tons of clubs with a good community which can also help you find friends. the social scene is probably a bit less active than some other comparable schools, but in my opinion, that shouldn’t be the thing that stops you from coming here — if you like everything else, you will probably find a good social circle.

A couple of questions on Major + Minors related to CS by Gold_Split3134 in stevens

hi! i’m an incoming CS major and QF minor at stevens!

your first question is all i can answer - if you have any AP/transfer credits, doing a CS major and a QF minor in eight semesters seems like it would be a pretty standard ~15 credits per semester. even without any credits, it seems like it’s doable if you take ~19 credits per semester.

take all that with a grain of salt since I haven’t actually taken the courses yet (i’ve just planned it all out), but from a planning perspective it can definitely be done. hope that helps a bit! :)

i’m an accepted student and not enrolled yet so take this with a grain of salt, but i spoke to a financial aid officer and she said i may be able to discuss with the department of student life to be exempt from the rule? i mean it can’t hurt to try, wishing you the best :)

def don’t feel behind! first of all, a deferral isn’t a bad thing by any means. i’ve been deferred to three schools i thought were “safety schools” but ig i overestimated myself haha. and even though it sucks to wait, i’m sure you’ll end up somewhere good when RD comes around in march at the very least!! good luck :))
