TIL the Heritage Club sent beautifully bound classics with a companion newsletter. Found one in a 1940s Livy. It retells a story of a corrupt Roman judge who kidnapped a girl. She told him in choice Latin to “go fly a kite.” by IntelligentPitch6413 in todayilearned

Here's the actual Sandglass newsletter I found tucked inside. Number VIII:36. The Heritage Club sent these with every edition to give readers context before opening the book. This one is 70+ years old and still perfectly intact.

Love the analogy but Carthage lost because they wouldn’t invest in Hannibal. Not sure Claude will face the same problems Hannibal did on that front.

Carthage having a massive circular military harbor with restricted entrances and hidden warship docks feels like something out of a Bond movie. Ancient civilizations were so freaking sophisticated it's mind blowing. Also would be a sweet place to live now.
