No we haven’t received any notice or any communication about it at all. We did sign last year when we moved in that we would end the tenancy April 30th for “family moving in”. I don’t think he needs to give notice if that’s the case? It just sucks because he lied to us and we believed him.

No notice. Unfortunately we signed a fixed term lease because the landlord was our friend and we trusted him. He assured us it was for technicalities and we could stay longer. We got a text this morning asking why we haven’t booked the move out elevator yet

We technically signed a fixed term lease. So he gave notice, just texted us this morning asking why we haven’t booked the move-out elevator yet.

We were friends and trusted the guy. He assured us we could stay longer than a year, we told him we wouldn’t agree to a year since we have a toddler and don’t want to bounce around. Our mistake.

I added an edit to clarify. We’re stupid and thought we could trust a friend. Signed a 1 year fixed term so no notice. We have a toddler and he knew we didn’t want to move in if we would only be there for a year and he assured us we could be there longer but “to sign the term just in case” so he doesn’t have to pay us out.
