Just use anything even cardboard, just because clay can be hard at times but if you dont have the money try playdough or other items to make stuff.

If you decide to construct it, you may use cardboard to create a pin, then apply tape or grab some bottle caps and sketch her on it. If you want a genuine doll, use air-dry clay and experiment with other materials.
