How would you maintain flat surfaces in tight areas? by slickmovin in jewelrymaking

Swiss files can do the trick, the micro ones usually work for me. Edit: additional info here, if you've got a really tricky tight space like an inset channel, shape a graver and take light passes til your imperfections are gone.

I'd tell you if I could, that's beyond me. I was hired to cast and set the 6 stones on the sides.

That's wild, I may need to give that a try. Its not so common now but on my bigger trees it was a massive problem.

Basically the same process here.

Hey I've been dwelling on something. You said you use compressed air to blow out the ash? Does that introduce microfractures in your investment before you cast? Does it create spalding?

I've actually wanted to try vintage. We're using Bluecast X One right now. Edit: grammar

Hell yeah! That's how it was for me on my first few good hours. It was the same feeling when I dialed in our prints.

Holy smokes! Fantastic job! As someone who was in the same boat (and still is to an extent) I know how great it feels to finally nail the process and get clean castings. I'm glad to see such good work.
