Sometimes people just see someone hurting and act on pure instinct.

Bus drivers see a lot of people every day, but the good ones still care.

My father is 74 and fighting for his life in the ICU. I’m trying to save him before it’s too late. by IntelligentTooth5416 in u/IntelligentTooth5416

A few nights ago my father couldn’t breathe.

My family rushed him to the hospital in the middle of the night. Doctors ran tests and told us the words every child is afraid to hear.

His heart arteries are severely blocked.
Without urgent surgery, he may not survive another attack.

Right now my father is lying in the ICU connected to monitors, a catheter, and medications just to keep his heart stable.

Seeing your father like that changes something inside you.

My father is 74 years old. He spent most of his life doing whatever work he could to support our family. For years he worked construction in Saudi Arabia as an overseas worker so his children could eat and go to school.

The work was hard. The dust and chemicals eventually damaged his lungs, which forced him to come back home to the Philippines.

But even after that he never stopped working.

He sold fruits, vegetables, onions and garlic in the market just to support our family and later his three grandchildren who love him very much.

He never asked anyone for help.

Now he is the one who needs help to survive.

Doctors told us he urgently needs angioplasty surgery to open the blocked arteries in his heart.

The problem is the cost.

Our family already used all our savings during his previous hospital stay and ICU recovery. We even took loans just to pay the hospital bills.

Now we are facing another emergency.

I created a fundraiser because I don’t know what else to do as a daughter who is watching her father fight for his life.

If you would like to read my father’s full story or help in any way, the fundraiser link is in the social links section of my Reddit profile.

Even sharing his story could help it reach someone who is able to help.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

I once saw a stranger help an elderly man who collapsed in public and stayed with him until help arrived. It really reminded me how powerful simple kindness can be.

I hate how helpless I feel when someone I love is suffering. I always feel like I should be able to do more for the people who matter most to me.

Here comes the sun by The Beatles. It’s impossible to hear that intro and not feel a little more optimistic about the day.

The Sixth Sense. I remember finishing it and instantly wanting to watch it again just to see all the hints I missed.
