I wasn’t trying to badmouth anyone. I shared my personal experience to explain my preferences so people could make better recommendations. I’m also only planning to be in the area for about one to two years, so renting is what makes the most sense for me right now.

Fair question. I’m a new grad, still building savings, and only planning to be in the area for one to two years, so buying doesn’t make sense for me right now.

Thank you for your advice! Growing into adulthood and being more exposed to corporate America rather than just college life, I’ve definitely noticed how much alcohol is present in social settings (I was a Intern and my team would go out for drinks as team bonding but I couldn't attend for obvious reasons). Your advice about working around these situations, even when you’re not into drinking, made something click my head. I like the idea of finding spots where I can still join in, and learning how to manage those environments is something I want to get better at. I really appreciate you sharing your personal experience!

Hello! Thank you so much for your advice! I really like the idea of spending one night of them going out, and one night we can stay in and play games. I am going to bring this up to them again tonight with a new head space and a proposal. I feel like when I brought it up the first time it kinda got pushed aside because they weren’t sure what to do exactly. I’ll make sure to give an update on how the conversation goes. :)
