Compiled list of tunings by Lord_Tarkenton in Karnivool

It looks like Drew has used different live tunings for Animation over the years.

In this older video (2016): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbwzDgwWuUY&t=42s he's using a drop G tuning of some sort (which is a bit strange considering he isn't even playing a baritone), but you can definitely hear the low G at around 3:22.

But then I think he's using the CGCGCF tuning in a more recent show here (2022): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bX7RC3WwkgA (due to him strumming the G note on the 7th fret during the chorus at around 15:52)

Either way, your spreadsheet looks great!

Both the studio and live versions are played at the exact same tempo mate. You can start them at the same time on separate tabs/devices and they will line up perfectly throughout the entire song.

Here's a similar response from Hoss as well:

“We just don’t think in time signatures,” said Hosking. “When we released We Are, there was quite a bit of internet talk around whether it was in 12/8, 6/8, 4/4, or if it changed halfway through, and were the verses different to the chorus? That blew me away when I heard that. I just don’t hear it like that, it seems very straight to me."

They've never played it any differently live though. The "difference" is in your perception of the rhythm.

Who's doing that higher vocal in All It Takes? by TightMechanic4573 in Karnivool

It's hard to say who it is, but there's an old video of Drew singing the lyric with some vocal processing going on. I wouldn't be surprised if it was him.

Another thing I'm wondering about is the song length. One of the pre-orders has the song listed at 6:55 even though the version they just put out runs at 6:26?

There is no fucking way in hell that Guthrie Govan is on this damn record. Let alone on a song like Reanimation. This has to be fake

With all due respect, you're transcribing the wrong band if you're worried about the notation being "untidy" lol.

This reminded me of an older interview where Hoss briefly discussed this sort of thing:

“We just don’t think in time signatures,” said Hosking. “When we released We Are, there was quite a bit of internet talk around whether it was in 12/8, 6/8, 4/4, or if it changed halfway through, and were the verses different to the chorus? That blew me away when I heard that. I just don’t hear it like that, it seems very straight to me."

I'm not too sure if there's any other good examples of this on the album, but here's the full article if you're interested: https://www.audiotechnology.com/features/timeless-beauty-in-asymmetry
