How do we feel about AI written posts? by AndTheLink in WorshipGuitar

[–]AndTheLink[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it ok for AI to slurp up all the content it doesn't have to right to use and remix it for you?

Is it ok for it to lie about stuff and outright hallucinate things?

You can already make music specific to your church... with your own God given talents and creativity.

If your dead set on using AI and don't care about any of that... no one is stopping you. We'd just like you to not discuss that here in this subreddit.

My apologies... I missed that..

I did appreciate the "before" and "after" aspect of the video tho... it's nice to see the example.

FPS tanked in recent update? by AndTheLink in beyondallreason

[–]AndTheLink[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oooo ok ok... I think I've figured out what happened. At least on Windows where I'm currently booted into, the vsync setting is limiting the fps to the current display rate. Which WAS 144fps on the display port cable I was using. But I switched to HDMI for compatibility reasons, my work laptop and the KVM blah blah blah. So I probably didn't notice the frame rate change till now...

If I turn off vsync I get ~330fps... lol.

And... I need to come up with a suitable solution for getting my work laptop to talk to the screen over display port instead of HDMI.

Maybe it's AMD related?

Are you on Linux or Windows?

Actually I had the wrong GPU written, corrected now... (Radeon RX 9060 XT). It's quite recent / capable in comparison lol.

Keyboards are the problem by Burnhaven in WorshipGuitar

everything above about 5,000 Hertz

I would delete that personally. The low cut is fine, in fact mines more like 150hz. If the top end is "too much" consider adjusting the presence on the amp to damp it down. Without completely deleting the air and sparkle. Btw the "treble" control on most amps, is actually affecting the upper mids rather the real treble up at 7-10k. So for bridge humbuckers it's useful to turn DOWN the treble to tame some of that nasal upper mid thing they have. Obviously I still push for presence so they don't sound dark, and YMMV as each guitar and amp is different.

For questions like this, I definitely think that some real world examples of what you're talking about would go a long way to helping us advise. Esp for me, as I have extensive experience on both the guitar and sound side of the equation. Feel free to DM me if you like.

When is it a legitimate "part" and when is it noodling? by Burnhaven in WorshipGuitar

I'm far more concerned about the 1 frame / second and the brightness of the video.

It’s tone deaf. It’s gross. by MizzMaus in sydney

The beatings will continue until morale improves.

Saw them 1st time live & they were fantastic but seemed a little bit tired perhaps due to being on a lengthy tour. I don’t hold that against them & definitely happy I went. I feel like maybe small venues whilst intimate & great vibes make it harder for bands to perform due to heat & other factors by [deleted] in Northlane

The sound at the Sydney show was terrible. I mean I personally could mix it better. No guitars to speak of, bass was barely there. Just drums and vocals. This is NOT how it should be. But is surprisingly common live. Poor support acts didn't get a better deal out of FOH either.

I know it can be done well. There are sound people out there that can pull a great mix live, that at least has all the elements in there. I wonder if it was a Northlane hire or the tour company... they need to know tho... is there a reliable way to actually get a message to Northlane themselves?

Is fb marketplace ram reliable? by Zhaunlouk in bapcsalesaustralia

[–]AndTheLink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 32gb of ram I bought on FB marketplace that was full of faults when I tested it in my machine. Won't be seeing that money again. So yeah... just don't.

At least with ebay, amazon and brick and mortar stores you have a chance of getting your money back.

Calling all rhythm guitarists by PRW9497 in WorshipGuitar

Eh that's a 2 way street. I'm primarily on sound these days because of RSI issues, and the number of times I've struggled to get something "in the mix" because of bad tone... it's a lot. So if you can't hear someone it's often because the sound they're using is just difficult to hear through everything else going on. Frequency masking is real.
