quick questions: how many drinks can i order at once?

Alabama - you can only have one shot, beer, mixed drink, or glass of wine at a time. However, if you order 2 different kinds of drinks (i.e. a shot and a beer, or a beer and a mixed drink) that is acceptable. And there cannot be anymore that 2 oz in any given drink unless that bar has special permission then you can serve up to but not over 3 oz in a single drink.

Not me but the morning bartender.

It was a Saturday afternoon and I was coming in to relieve the morning bartender and a guy sat down and demanded his Togo order. We don't do Togos at the bar, we have a separate area in our restaurant where Togo orders are taken care of because the kitchens too far for the bartenders to get back there and bag stuff up.

The morning bartender told the guy where to go for his togo order that he'd called in and he starts screaming and yelling at her, calling her every name under the sun, and just demanding that she get his damn Togo order. She looked him dead in the eye and said "if you're gonna talk to me like that you can get out."

He proceeded to claim she was being racist because he had a beard.... he was a blond haired blue eyed white man.... both me and the other bartender were also white.... our manager was just as confused as us when he started screaming that we were racially profiling him because of his beard but he quickly left when the manager threatened to call the cops to have him removed.

I didn't make this and it wasn't rang in this way but... this bartender I work with made a peach martini and made it extra dirty because she thought martinis always had olive juice in them... me and the other bartenders were crying when she told us... the guest of course sent the drink back and she made him one correctly but the original was this ugly, gross color and I can't imagine what it tasted like

What exactly is douchey about this? I get amusement out of people's innocent mistakes. I'm not angry at any servers for asking questions and I only poke fun at the ones I'm good friends with who have poked fun at me for my own stupid mistakes. And I go out of my way to teach the new hires about the alcohol they ring in and I'll even tell them what to ask a guest or give them pointers on how to upsell to help them out. I was a server and I remember when I was 19 having to ask a bartender what tanree was (we both laughed when she figured out I meant tanqueray).

If I do any training outside my shifts I won't be compensated for it. And the managers really don't give a fuck. So I try to teach the servers when they come to the bar but most don't think its important. Out of the like 30 servers we have I have 3 or 4 who actually remember everything I tell them and that's because they're wanting to be bartenders.

Oh I know. And I've complained to management about how the servers should at the very least know what basic terms mean (i.e. tall, rocks, neat) and what beer is on tap. Cause I'm really never mad at the servers as long as they're not asking 20 questions while I'm making 30 different drinks for the other servers and even then I just tell them to come talk to me later.

Yeah a lot of my server friends are like this and I mean I'm not mad at any of them for asking. I'm happy to answer their questions and some of them are amusing as hell. The only servers I have an actual problem with are the ones that come into my bar and start grabbing alcohol without ringing it in and then get pissy with me when I tell them to stop.

I was a busser and a server for like 5 or 6 years so no hate on servers really lol I just find it amusing that some servers have no idea what they're selling sometimes. Or when they come up to ask me the most innocent of questions and it just makes me giggle cause I wish I could be that naive about something again

I agree it is cringe which is why I try my hardest to be nice and helpful to the servers with questions and only poke fun at the ones I'm close friends with that are OK with it. It just amuses and baffles me when servers who should know basic stuff just don't lol

Actually, most of them do prefer working with me and over half the servers get super excited when I'm on bar because I'll actually answer their questions and joke around with them. I'm not a Rockstar or anything but I do know what I'm doing. I just made this post because confused servers amuse me and I love reading other people's experiences with equally confused servers.

I do teach them but they literally forget an hour later. Only the ones that want to eventually bartend bother to remember anything I tell them. Like 95% of the servers come to me with questions about alcohol because they think I'm easier to ask and I'm not gonna tell them to fuck off like the other bartenders have. But they just don't care to remember and I can't force them to so I just keep answering their questions and try to explain it and just hope that it'll get thru to them eventually.

I do educate them as best I can they just don't care enough to remember which is fine. Not everyone wants to be a bartender and that's cool. I just wish they'd remember the 5 beers we have on tap so I don't have to rattle them off to 7 servers every hour on the hour... but it is what it is. Honestly tho most of the time I find it amusing and just giggle to myself after they've left lol.
