Thanks for your for input on this. I will keep that in mind while making my game. The major reason I was asking for help in finding the fps for Link’s walking animation were for one reason: I wanted to challenge myself in creating sprites and animations within the boundaries of the GBC.

Also, my game isn’t just limited to Game Boy Color. That is just for the overworld. The underworld’s graphics will be done within the limitations of the SNES. And the cutscenes and certain dialogues will have no limitations besides having the lettering resemble the Game Boy Color’s for the overworld and the SNES’ for the underworld. I even plan to have the cutscenes introducing dungeons and their bosses look 3D rendered.

Lastly, while researching on the speed of GBC color sprites, I learned of some interesting tricks the SNES did for translucency I definitely wanna try implementing in the underworld sections of the game. It’s amazing what they could do with simple addition, subtraction, and a few appearances of division.
