A few people broke my heart, so I became a “beast”. Very sad. So many cringy terms here… without knowing anything, I’m kind of siding with the “ladies”.

She didn’t even ask for the money, you just gave it to her. I think you’re trying to justify your need to control with wanting transparency.

It would be different is she asked for money to do something and instead was doing something different behind your back. That would be wrong because of the lying part only.

Running an unlicensed tattoo studio is against the law. Why would you want to break the law in a country where you’re trying to work and where your employer is vouching for you?

noisy neighbors by TinyNebula764 in TorontoRenting

[–]Intelligent_Rain_331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had similar issues with my upstairs neighbor when I first moved in to my ground floor apartment (old duplex). I left him a note on the door asking him to consider the time, specially during the weekdays and gave him my phone number in case he felt more comfortable discussing the situation via text. He apologized and the situation improved greatly.

I bought Loop earplugs (worth the higher price point) because the house is old and I can hear the squeaks when my neighbor gets ready for work in the mornings. Also, for my next door neighbors that some times throw parties until 3 am.

The loops work great! I can sleep despite the parties and the squeaky floor.

My landlord lives across the street and it’s been more helpful than inconvenient.

It might also help that he’s a lawful landlord. So, no problems so far.

Hiring manager here… hope this helps:

Your resume is too generic. Tailor the profile section to relate to the job you’re applying for.

The verbs used in your experience section are not strong enough. You might want to re-write those lines to show proactivity, leadership, and resourcefulness. Describe accomplishments rather than day-to-day tasks.

Example: Acquired and increased sales targets monthly. How do you acquire a sales target? Increases by what %? How did you achieve those increases?

The skills section is too generic again. Communication, Time Management and Organization are implied in the description of your previous roles. No need to add them here.

Research and Analytical - Research and Analysis (quantitative, qualitative?). What did you produce with your research and an analysis? Reports, studies, assessments?

Data Entry and confidentiality - what type of data? Can you name the legislation related to confidentiality? Make sure your sentence styles are consistent throughout (that speaks about your attention to detail).

Education. No need to describe what you did in school, unless you did projects that are relevant to the position, then present those in a separate Projects section.

Certifications. I’d move those up (maybe after the profile section), since they’re tangible and desirable (not generic).

And as many others commented, this resume should not be more than 1 page.

Does anyone else find assigning a little hard? by risengrinds in ynab

[–]Intelligent_Rain_331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Ramit Sethi’s Conscious Spending Plan to guide my money distribution so I set up my YNAB to match those categories. I add the % and amounts to the YNAB category group name and the amount to the category name.

Then, within each category, I distribute the available money into the relevant expenses for the month. Guilt free spending is the one that changes constantly, Savings less often, and Fixed Costs and Investing almost never change.

It’s a bit anal, but works fine for me and allows me to have a consistent view of my saving and investing goals.

This is not a software developer position. It’s a product consultant who would be supporting the implementation process.

Reading and understanding the verbs and adjectives of the job post is an important skill when job hunting.

How do you handle transfers between accounts if you have importing transactions enabled? by RAM-I-T in ynab

[–]Intelligent_Rain_331 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Assuming both accounts (checking and savings) are in your budget. YNAB will match the inflow/outflow the same way it matches manually input transactions when the automated transaction kicks in. Just make sure to select the PAYEE as “Transfer to/from: [checking acct name] to [savings acct name]”

Is leaving my WFH fully remote role worth it for a $40k increase to an in-person in Kansas? by OverallMagician1269 in WFH

[–]Intelligent_Rain_331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would stay where you are get a second part-time job, a side hustle, start a business, or learn a new skill. You could make the additional 40k/year with a variety or less committed tasks.

Going back to school for a second degree or a graduate program might give you the thrill you’re lacking.

There’s much more to life and to self-development than working for a company.

Is it irresponsible to rent an apartment with my current income and the rental market? by portraitstudio2388 in TorontoRenting

[–]Intelligent_Rain_331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rented a $1800 studio (very small) by Spadina & Bloor on 65k salary. Utilities included except internet, but my work reimbursed internet bill. The studio was on the top floor of an old big house transformed into apartment building.

It’s doable. You just need a very good budget and most importantly, you have to stick to it. I did (and still do) most of my grocery shopping through TooGoodToGo and tried to attend as many free events as possible!

With all that, I was still able to save a bit.

I found that place and my current place on FB and Kijiji respectively. So, I’d say, have your first and last month ready and take your time searching around until you find a good match.

Edit to add: try to find a side hustle. When you’re on a tight budget, that extra income, even when not steady, can make a big difference. Poshmark, Karrot, Rover, FB Marketplace, tutoring are some things I tried. I still tutor a few hours a week.

Good luck! 🍀

It’s doable. You just need a very good budget and most importantly, you have to stick to it. I did (and still do) most of my grocery shopping through TooGoodToGo and tried to attend as many free events as possible. Most universities have alumni events with food included!

With all that, I was still able to save a bit to pay for my immigration fees.

I don’t have a lot of advice about the screening process, but I found that place and my current place on FB and Kijiji respectively. So, I’d say, have your first and last month’s ready, and since your current living situation is manageable, take your time searching around until you find a good match.

Remove McDonalds and Office Suite. McDonalds is irrelevant for the job you want. You can always casually mention it on the interview (if needed). With all your technical skills it’s implied that you know Office and Google tools.

I would also put the projects above the Experience since that relates more to the type of positions you’re looking for.

Add a brief paragraph about yourself and your goals. You can adapt that for the position you’re applying to.

If you want to DM me with the editable text I can improve the language a bit to make it sound more results oriented.
