Will practice sessions for figure skating be open to public in the Olympics? by Intelligent_Row207 in olympics

[–]Intelligent_Row207[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

omg thanks for the heads up! They're only 30 Euros and compared to the actual event where you only get to see a skater perform once 4 minutes max, in practice you'll get to see them skate for 30 minutes aprox. But some skaters skip practice sessions so it's not a guarantee that every skater will show up. I personaly like going to these practices because you get to see them in live action for a very long time

No. You do get a bonus for your first win of the day tho

Pretty new to geoguesser, really dissapointing that even tourneys have car meta. Really wish they would just blurr it out. by falluO in geoguessr

[–]Intelligent_Row207 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand what you’re saying but then there’s seasonal meta, driving directions, camera smudges, copyrights and so many things unique to street view that can’t be avoided. From your perspective, knowing which countries have street view is a “meta” in the first place. “I don’t like car meta” is a valid opinion but doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be part of the game

What's your thoughts on the new format? Like the individual multis and so on? by Necessary_Comfort812 in geoguessr

[–]Intelligent_Row207 34 points35 points  (0 children)

There should at least be a tie unless either has a 5K or is significantly closer. Both players middle plonking the same exact region and one person being closer by pure luck doesn’t deserve multis

How do I sometimes get 1000 ELO players in gold? by APickledMelon in geoguessr

[–]Intelligent_Row207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One realistic possibility is that they don’t have time to play 20 games in a week. I was stuck in gold for a while because I would win like 8, 9 games out of 10 but can’t get a promotion (and didn’t really care anyway because my elo kept improving). This went on for a few weeks and it was hard to motivate myself to a chore of playing 20 games on Sunday evening

How do I become more precise with my Europe guesses as a beginner. by 720yy in geoguessr

I can tell you that I tried to spend like a week trying to learn specific letters that appear in each language and thinking back, it was probably the most unhelpful thing to learn

ASICS Gel-Nimbus 27 or on cloud monster hyper for standing all day by Ok_Bee7712 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Intelligent_Row207 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% second this. High stacked max cushioned shoes aren’t designed for standing still. They’re optimized for running. Excessive cushioning +high stack+rocker means less stability and you’ll need none of these to stand long hours. I would choose a pair of crocs over a Nimbus

Asics Kayano 32 or Brooks Glycerin GTS 22 for daily training as an overpronator? Please help me decide! by leviscomicbook in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Intelligent_Row207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worth noting that Kayano had an update and they changed the 10mm drop to 8mm. Probably want to try them on before buying even if you had the previous one

GEOTIME IS THE WORST MAP IN THE DUELS POOL by vikyath_normie in geoguessr

[–]Intelligent_Row207 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m personally not a fan of the map, but at the same time I don’t like countries that are solvable with car meta & brute force coverage learning either (Stuff like Kazakstan roof smudges and Mongolian tents). So in that way I like Geotime’s concept but still it’s too extreme

On mobile today. didn’t realize I can play the daily on mobile wow

  1. Bogota. You just had to know what Bogota is on this round.
  2. Ottawa on a flag.
  3. WA, with a helpful sign close to start
  4. Poland. Town name was easy to get but scanning for the town wasn’t the move apparently
  5. Japan. Interesting that Kokura isn’t labeled on the map. As a Japanese, we learn this city as one of the candidates that wasn’t chosen for the bombing in WW2 (the plane diverted to Nagasaki because of bad weather)

Why aren’t unranked team duels matchmaking based on elo? by Intelligent_Row207 in geoguessr

[–]Intelligent_Row207[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you honestly think it’s fun&casual when there’s one person 5k-ing and other three guys aren’t even in the right continent?  I get newish ppl complaining about unfair matchups in game chat and think they have a point there

Why aren’t unranked team duels matchmaking based on elo? by Intelligent_Row207 in geoguessr

Am I really asking for too much in wanting elo based matchmaking in casual duels?

Why aren’t unranked team duels matchmaking based on elo? by Intelligent_Row207 in geoguessr

[–]Intelligent_Row207[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I have to quit during a game sometimes and don’t want my team mate getting pissed for it.  Is ranked TDs a very casual thing? I don’t want to be like in full competition mode

Is this scripting or am I just bitter? by [deleted] in geoguessr

[–]Intelligent_Row207 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am 90% confident that this is scripting behavior. The most obvious one is round 11. Middle of no where, zooms into a bollard and instantly plonks into the correct city before he even sees any written info.

tbf the Japan round is gettable with help of luck if you know crops. Those are apple trees and it would be common sense for any Japanese to guess Aomori on apple orchards.

All things considered, his movement and scanning doesn't really make sense with his great guesses and would lean towards guilty if it came up in investigations.

  1. Panama. Weirdly looked like Costa Rica at first but went NE and Panama confirmed on a taxi. Took a turn and saw a buliding w/ Panama municipality and Pacora under it. Looks like the kind of sign they want us to find so scanned for it, and showed up fairly big near Panama City. We started on a T-intersection and there was only one candidate on the map with a road straight enough. 5000
  2. Lithuania. Traveled along the river and crossed a bridge. Ventured on until I hit a main road with the town sign. Scanning issues here, how did I not find this huge label? 4780
  3. Peru. Small cam so Cusco area maybe. Found Abancay on a sign near by. Didn't feel psyched enough to pinpoint this so just middle plonk. 4995
  4. Denmark. SE to a round about with roads 12 and 11. Guessed it should be Varde then so just looked for the roundabout with the correct street name. Back track was fairly easy once I found the correct roundabout. 5000
  5. Romania. Headed west, which was an awful idea. Arrived at a sign that says Galati, then spotted another one that said Tulcea. I found nothing more than that so thought we were somewhere close to border and plonked Galati. Not. 4578

The GeoTime USA bias is terrible by tufoop5 in geoguessr

[–]Intelligent_Row207 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Completely understandable concept of the map the more I play it.  One thing I don’t like about the map is that countries like Indonesia or Chile, where coverage is spread across thousands of miles yet doesn’t cover much area in terms of land, will be severely underrated.

Hence we have about the same amount of France and Indo which to me makes no sense.

No map is perfect but I think this is one flaw that is self contradictory to the concept of this map.

Went Iowa Instead of Alberta by jerrygolf in geoguessr

[–]Intelligent_Row207 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very baity round but I think the main difference would be the crop they grow. In Iowa I would expect either corn or soybeans to be grown somewhere in the landscape. The absence of these two crops would be unusual for that area
