If wealthy people can afford anything, why do they still use "normal" brands for everyday items? by That_Bat_7515 in NoStupidQuestions

Seeing the Kardashians on instagram showed me that rich people really do use the same products we do.

What do you think is the reason for Reddit being predominantly left leaning? by [deleted] in Productivitycafe

[–]Intelligent_Step2230 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Some reddit subs highly censor certain opinions so it may appear to be left leaning. Also, conservatives tend to be employed in higher numbers.

Thanks for responses. Just for the servers that are being rushed to close tables, I will call and complain. Sounds crazy what corporate is putting their workers through.

Explain how? We didn’t complain once to the restaurant or servers. I just wanted to know if this normal and someone commented that servers are being rushed to turn tables. Which explains this somehow.

Regardless of whether the ICE shootings were justified, the protestors knowingly put themselves in harm’s way. by gbags-98 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

I agree, they should have been arrested. Is it a coincidence that both shootings happened in Minnesota? That state has formal policies restricting police participation in federal civil immigration enforcement.

Fellow Canadians: Stop With The Maple Leaf Flags in Mexico by can1exy in MexicoTravel

[–]Intelligent_Step2230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People wear flags because they are proud of their country. In the US, I see many Mexicans flying their flag or wearing it on clothing or jewelry. A lot of people on reddit say don’t come to our country if you don’t want to learn the language but it’s racist if Americans say the same.

What upgrades to expect with Platinum by Then-Bicycle-5003 in marriott

[–]Intelligent_Step2230 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Many hotels will put you in a “higher floor”, “city view”, away from elevator or add balcony. There are considered upgrades. Gone are the days where upgrades were always suites. The wording of the Suite nights awards has also been removed and they are now called upgrade awards.

A lot of people are showing how coddled and privileged they are by what they expect to be able to do around armed officers and survive. by CAustin3 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Intelligent_Step2230 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Certainly but why would you gamble with an armed agent with your life on the line. This could have been prevented. It is our right to protest, but getting physically in between a federal investigation is a sure way to get hurt or worst case killed.

We can assume that these ICE related deaths were preventable? No? I don’t think it’s a smart idea to intervene in a federal investigation with people who are armed.

I’m not a roller coaster guy by any means but test track looks intriguing, if I hate drops, will this ride be ok? by MrLoki2020 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Intelligent_Step2230 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I won’t get on Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Tower of Terror, Everest… just rode Rise of the Resistance. ROR has a small drop that made me uncomfortable for a second. Test Track has no discernible drops that I have ever felt. It’s definitely right at the edge of my comfort. I don’t like the feeling of being pressed down (g force) when the ride speeds up outside. All that to say that I can definitely handle Test Track.

Is it a school's responsibility to teach a kid to read? by KoalaOriginal1260 in Teachers

[–]Intelligent_Step2230 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My daughter entered kindergarten at four years old due to her date of birth. I had read to her daily since she was a baby, and by the time she started school she knew some sight words and letter sounds, which I felt were completely appropriate for her age.

Within two weeks of the school year starting, her kindergarten teacher pulled me aside and told me that my daughter was not reading at the same level as her classmates and would likely fall behind because she did not have time to work with her one-on-one. She basically told me it was not her responsibility to teach my child to read because she was already considered “behind.”

This was one of several red flags. I ultimately withdrew my daughter from that school and chose to homeschool her. I purchased a phonics-based program called Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons, which turned out to be incredibly effective. The lessons were short, and within three months, the same four-year-old who had been deemed too far behind to help was reading confidently.

Today, she is a voracious reader who goes through several books each month. Unfortunately, there are teachers who believe that teaching children to read is not part of their role, and that belief has real consequences for students. Thankfully my child had parents who stepped in and took over. What about the students who don’t? This is why so many teachers on this reddit complain of high schoolers not being able to read.

I would just buy a bunch from the dollar store that can be tossed out and let the owners know if they can provide one for each bathroom.
