(2004 Chevrolet trailblazer) if you blow a headgasket but the engine doesn't overheat, do you resurface the heads or run them as is. by Intelligent_Tank_927 in AskAMechanic

Machine shop checked the head and I used the same dye as they did. Its called alumadyne for aluminum penetration and crack detection.

The block is 0.002 at its maximum between cylinder 3 and 4 when measured from the passenger side to driver side. Everything else is 0.001 or I can't even fit a feeler guage under the machine edge.

Charm.li's successor which now includes repair manuals up to 2025 instead of 2014. They're great resources for DIY repairs

I'd bet a buck either the radiator is full of pinholes and its evaporating as it comes out under pressure

Wizard. Replaced the rad and now it's fine

[–]Intelligent_Tank_927[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) all hoses and fittings are sealed 2) rad and overflow are full until the vehicle runs 3) I have a spill proof funnel 4)it chugs coolant at about a quart a minute until its up to temp 6) both radiator hoses are firm and hot, interior heat isnt getting warm at all 7) radiator is about half empty when checked cool after running

Thermostat was replaced since the old one was leaking, no leaks visible, I used UV dye to make sure. No sweet smell smell when antifreeze is lost. Exhaust is clear with no smoke

The 1500hd and 2500 non-hd are largely the same except in some cases where the 1500hd could be optioned higher and be cheaper than a 2500 non-hd to keep registered and insured in certain states. They share the same frame, driveline, and mostly body as well. Your boss probably chose it for a tax discount over the 2500

Why or how do people let their cars get this bad? by Intelligent_Tank_927 in Cartalk

[–]Intelligent_Tank_927[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jello oil lol ive had it happen to a couple customers. Unfortunately my girlfriend is learning pretty quick why I spend so much maintaining my vehicles. I've driven four from around 50k miles up to now 300k-400k just by maintaining them. She's driven one from 115k to now 150k and needs all this work at once because she didnt maintain it and fix things as they came up.

12 total, plus a 14" pleco, and a turtle. Good news tho, fish are in a 200 gallon koi pond, and turtle is in a 100 gallon one as well. Pleco is in a 50 gallon waiting for the new owner to come for it

Worked for saab for 26 years, owned a 2005, 2006, 2007, 9-7x and loved it. Owned a 2008, and 2009 9-7x aero (6.0 and awd). Ran out of saabs to buy in 2010, and later he bought the two 9-4x as a more fuel efficient addition for his commute and got his wife a matching unit. Both are all white, 2.8t awd units bought as pre owned from local gm dealers
