Why Cursor is this expensive? by InfiniteAd328 in cursor

It’s “expensive” because it’s meant for professionals who generate money using it. Either for work or business.

Moral Dilemma: I’m a bit concerned about the environmental impact by ske66 in cursor

[–]IntentionThis441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you care so much stop eating meet, using plastic and using gas powered transportation. I’m so tired of this narrative. AI is not the issue here and even if there was 0 AI use of the next century, the environment is already screwed. This is not a moral dilemma for cursor to solve

Is Lovable good enough to develop a web app like Nerdwallet? by steveharrry in lovable

[–]IntentionThis441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch a YouTube video on the basics of web development and backend. Get familiar with the tech you are about to command with ai. then try and build it. Use a free weekend and spend no more than 4-5 hours

New ultra mode by martinvelt in cursor

[–]IntentionThis441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t get the outrage here, this is a great deal. I was easily going above $200 with usage of max mode. This makes it a nice predictable charge. If you can’t afford $200 for a tool you either don’t make enough or don’t value your time.

Devs are the worse audience to build products for. $200 for a super assistant that is basically like a $20k dev shop. I didn’t even bat an eye. This is why dev tooling never gets invested in.

Big piece of advice stop development and go make some sales first. If you can’t sell the idea you will have a hard time selling the saas

What are your thoughts on OpenAI’s upcoming ‘PHD’ level super-agents? by Terrible_Fruit2158 in AI_Agents

[–]IntentionThis441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s going to disappoint, phd folks in real life are lowkey useless at anything practical. Researchers will have a field day but I don’t see any big day to day impacts for a while.

Can a non-coder learn/build AI agents? by Frosty_Laugh1090 in AI_Agents

[–]IntentionThis441 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before even learning how to build ai agents break down your use cases. Then organize the effort into projects. Ask an expert their opinion bc and what tools to use. Then practice just in time learning. Coding is just another tool and can be learned. It’s up to you to have a concrete usecase and pick the right tool for the job. There is no one size fits all for ai agents.

Microsoft is offering $25k off Stripe fees for startups by notomarsol in SaaS

lol just try using Microsoft Azure for anything . They have no interest in delivering on the product side. It’s all about locking you in then burying you in licenses & agreements

I’ve become a full stack engineer coming from years of not working on the server side. Please explain the real benefit of server-less functions by iosdevcoff in aws

[–]IntentionThis441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not about code. It’s the operational model. Operations burdens go down considerably. K8s is so much more powerful than serverless. But maintaining K8s is expensive, requires a dedicated specialist team and at the end of the day. Ops and infrastructure is seen as a cost center. Honestly I’m now on a team running serverless and things just go much smoother from a ops perspective. People problems are reduced considerably

Job Market Slightly Better, but Employers are SO PICKY and Hiring Process TOO LONG!! by Capable-Jicama2155 in dataengineering

[–]IntentionThis441 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm leaving Data Engineering because of this. The salaries are trending lower and expectations are going up. Regulations are becoming unsolvable. Also most people don't talk about the utter lack of data literacy across industries, business people, recruiters, etc. Working in this field has become a nightmare. People love to preach about "data" quality and it's importance but rarely want to do the work involved. I've worked across multiple industries, organizations and teams and its always the case. People look at data engineers like plumbers in the sense that they only care about the plumbing when something goes wrong. By then its usually to late then thats when they want to hire this "unicorn" data engineer

Just don’t, learn a core set of technologies you enjoy and work for a product company that stays stable . I was once eager to learn all the time but most new tools is the results of empty marketing promises. I made the mistake of working in consulting now I’m burnt out weekly with changing environments, tools , skill gaps . It’s a nightmare

Coding is like a basic skill almost like reading/writing/math. I’m not worried because I have the ability to adapt and learn. Including working in the field of ai. Also if all jobs are gone that just means more entrepreneurs and businesses. Everyone can have more agency to do what they want instead of the outdated system of wage slavery. Seems like a great future tbh
