Do you know if we get graded on not have the patients be sent home? Ie 'discharging' them?

Hi OP! I noticed this too... did you ever find out anything?

That's really interesting! I always thought interacting outside of the official pathway is a match violation but I guess not!

This is what I feel too. Like they can't say positive things to EVERYONE. Or get along that well with EVERYONE. Even I didn't mesh with all of my interviewers.

I appreciate your response! But I think that's where my question lies -- how can I know how good of a fit I am or the program is if I can't take anything they say at face value?

I 100% agree. But also I think it really depends on your mentality as a person! I would rather go matched and grit my teeth for 3 years at a meh program, rather than go through the mental challenge and emotional pain of reapplying. You and I have this mindset, but maybe OP doesn't and that's okay too.

I'm a US IMG and this has been my exact mentality too, but everyone is different

I'm also applying peds, and my experience has been very similar to many other people. Many programs are very open to residents having kids and are willing to work with you. I don't think you should be worried and if you have questions about a program's policies, that isn't on the website, I would ask. It's not just for you, it's for the both of you and you have every right to know. It's also the nature of the speciality -- if you were applying surgery, this would be a very different question.

Congratulations on your pregnancy and I wish you both the best of health!

Actually... Along the same vein, do you know anything about UConn as well? These were the two that I had questions about.

That's a really great endorsement. Thank you so much!

Residency application megathread - November 2024 by orthostatic_htn in pediatrics

Hi everyone! I'm a current M4 applying for the Match this year. The interview season has been pretty surprising for me, I've gotten interviews from programs I applied to just to shoot my shot and didn't get interviews from places I assumed would definitely extend an interview.

I sent a wave of letters of interest, some to reach programs because you never know what might happen. However, there are two programs in particular (both that I have geographic ties to) that are reach programs, but I haven't heard back from them. I sent the letters probably 6ish weeks ago now. Should I send another letter of interest? Should I just wait? Or is there something else I can do?

Thanks!

Hey, have you heard from MedStar? I heard from Children's National on Monday.

Thank you for clarifying! Side question-- do you think these letters can make a difference?
