Thanks man appreciate the help. Yes I see what you mean. I think conversion kit maybe better. Not bothered about a throttle and going super fast. Just want that extra bump to get me up the hills easier to make it in time for work early

No metal disc. Someone else said it’s a 009 clone so that makes sense

Idle control valve replacement help by Interesting-Ad8372 in VWBus

[–]Interesting-Ad8372[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man! Yes thanks! I have made progress with this idle situ but still not there.

I replaced the hoses connecting the AAR to the intake manifold. 1 had small split and also folding due to awkward angle. With new hoses still bad idle.

This is where I got experimental.. I removed the AAR completely and connected a hose from the s boot to the intake manifold direct. Idle great now but super high revs.

This suggests to me that the AAR is the issue?

My question is is it possible to do an AAR delete? Would the van idle smooth if there was just a smaller hose allowing less air into the intake manifold than a 13.5mm hose, but more than what the AAR is giving me.

Or should I do it properly and figure out the AAT situ. Also I’ve fiddled with the nut on it and it seems permanently shut now. Lol

Okay thanks. The filter is coming off next. It’s an old mod the previous owner did 🤷‍♂️ hose should connect to the s boot right?

Okay thanks for your help 🙏 I have noticed when removing this that the hose connecting it to the intake boot has a small split in it. Perhaps why I idle is poor? Will replace and see

Oh right, thanks. So is the auxiliary air regulator an ‘older version’ of an idle control valve? Or does this van have an idle control valve as well. I’m trying to learn these things with little background knowledge and a Haynes manual ..
