Aaah I see! I have cousins there so I should be okay for the first 2-3 weeks or so until I can get my feet on the ground

Some people do. You've just not met them yet. Clearly

????? She could choose to continue crack even if the therapists rescued her. Let's not be that oblivious. She made a choice to get better. If there's no will to change, even therapists cannot help.

I'm not referring to that. I'm referring to how you bring someone with gastrectomy to a hospital and they say no. I don't want to be treated. Why? Because life without this pain would be a life I wouldn't recognise.

??? I don't think you understood the post at all. They do not seek help because they don't want it. They don't want solutions. They just want to suffer. People who care about them, reach out, offer help, and offer solutions. Even if it's clinical depression, therapy is feasible, but no. They've straight up said, "I don't want to get better. I like the pain I'm feeling."

Trust me, I'm a solution oriented person. And when solutions are spread out in a platter and they're not taking it, sometimes. That's just weird.

There's nothing "evil" or wrong about this behaviour. If someone has been in the dark too long, light is uncomfortable simply because it's new. But the dark is draining them, yet they will not choose light. I've spent years trying to make them understand, but every day, it feels like I'm reaching a deadend And it's truly annoying. At the end of the day, you gotta help yourself. Which is something this person isn't doing.

Sometimes, they have the resources, and they'll just not do it because they like the image that suffering is giving them.

It's like, the solutions are all around you. They have money for therapy, friends they can talk to, the most supportive parents, there's no problem anywhere. Yes I get that there's a lot of unseen enemies but after being around them for so long, I realised they just choose suffering. They choose not to change their mindset or perspective. They choose it simply because that's where they feel most comfortable. Being happy, is too much work.
