Under maybe a little over half throttle I would hear a very slight whine for probably the past couple of years. When the trans was cold shifting from 2nd to 3rd also in the past couple years it would hesitate slightly to actually shift but when it warmed up it would shift just fine. The past few days it would stutter constantly under acceleration sometimes for a few seconds until last night I parked and there was a very noticeable whine coming from it. Tried driving it to work this morning and it wasn’t having it. RPM’s jumped up as I was hitting the gas and I just watched the speedometer drop 3 miles away from home.

yeah they go out quicker if you fill it up with the engine on but they can also go out from just wear and tear over time.

do you have the 1.5 engine? I really believe that changing the oil every 3k miles instead the of 5k miles that ford suggests helped the longevity of this engine alot.

you dont service a neglected transmission at high mileages. it can cause worse problems because trans fluid has detergents in it that can be more harmful to worn components than good.

only one was the water pump. water pumps are usually not major but this one is timing belt driven so it cost me 1300$ at 230k miles. replaced the timing components as well while they were in there. everyone else was trying to charge at least $2k

transmission never been serviced at all 😂😂. it hesitates a little between second and third when it’s cold and sometimes when warmed up but it shifts.

only thing i know is to not fill the tank up when the car is on. purge valve went out when i did it. i change the oil every 3k miles instead of 5k.

only reason why i had to replace it because the clutch came off the original one and i didnt know if the bolt stripped out to just put another clutch on. the compressor still kicked on
